Keep ADSL Data Package on Fibre Line

Telkom Fibre, yes. Localised niche fibre providers, maybe, depending on whether the fibre provider operates an open network and has an agreement with the ISP in question...

What DJ said... with Telkom Fibre yes. Running Afrihost on Telkom FTTH here with no issues.

Not sure about the other providers part.

Thanks for the replies. I will be using Telkom fibre with The Vox data package I recently subscribed to.

Just double check on that. As Vox rep told me so nicely their data won't work on "another line". Will try find post.

Interesting. I asked if I could use Vox data with my Fibre line in this thread.
I was told I couldn't, but now it's gone :erm:

Just chatted to Vox sales and they said that it is not possible, due to the way in which they have scripted the fibre data service. I must buy their bundle and lock myself into a 24 month contract.

So the are just being mean :p

May I ask why Afrihost data is better than Telkom's data? It is just due to a higher daytime cap?

If they are referring to using another ISP (e.g. Afrihost) with Telkom fibre being re-sold by them, then that's the sales guy being a dick. Ask for Hilton.

If they are referring to their data with another provider (using Telkom infrastructure) ... then I can't comment.

This is what I want to do. I actually was on a support call last evening with Vox and asked the person handling my issue the same question. She confirmed that it could be done. I asked her if she was 100% sure. She then went and made sure and confirmed that it is possible. I have a transcript of the conversation, but know it will not hold water.

Just phoned Telkom, they said I have to take their data package on their FTTH offer. Also, if I want a 20mb line, I have to take a voice line. Can anyone confirm? This isn't what their website says.

Well, well, well. Complete nonsense. You do not need to take their data. Next time ask for that in writing and send me the reference number for the call as well...
