Kia Picanto Queries

In fairness I don’t really think there is much use for STM/ESP/ASC or whatever you want to call it on something so small and low powered.

I bought a Kia knowing full well it didn’t have those features because I just didn’t see them ever actually coming into play.
At the time even the entry level Tucson models did not have it, it would not have been a problem if it was just an i10 or Picanto. And I am not talking long time ago, I am talking about when it changed from IX35 back to Tucson.

Op did you buy the vehicle new because that looks like the dummy spare key, hopefully you bought it secondhand and the previous owner just lost the remote key, if that is the case I can recommend an affordable place to make up a new remote key. Maybe phone Kia and give them the VIN number and ask them if the car has remote central locking which seems to be the case given you mentioned the door lock does activate the central locking motors so they are installed.

our picanto's came with both keys as the complete fobs, not a cheaper plain spare.

Suspect the same, the keys were just not provided.

its a gripe i have with hyandai and kia for long. no one touch windows only down on the drivers side even on the palisade. mirror if you lucky only on the passenger side with no light.doors dont lock when you pull off.

they all have features to get everyone excited like a touch radio or electric seats panoramic roof but the basics are missing.

their pricing is close to other manufactures too so there is no saying its to save money

dont get me started on the dealers the are useless, their system cant even figure out what engine you have from the Vin number.

good cars but our local dealers need to up their game.

While we talking about Kias, any idea where I can get a replacement service book?

WTF!!! o_Oo_Oo_O
The Start model doesn't even have an immobiliser key, that is ridiculous and means you could potentially steal it using that TikTok usb stick hack thing that has been in the news recently in the USA.
I'm starting to see the point @TheChamp has been making.
well would you like a vanity mirror ,rear wiper ,storage box or instead of that usefull stuff have andriod auto and a touch screen radio on the street model

I see MyBroadband has become #C&NTCentral - good to know.

If she was able to purchase the better model, she would've done that.
Just this model per month is costing a fortune.
The model up was R7000 pm excl insurance.

Seriously people - go back to helping instead of being dickwods.

In all honesty cars prices are ridiculous and we are all getting ripped off with spec in this country. I would not be paying 7000 on a small car. Should of got a good demo or low kilo from dealer with warranty let someone else take the knock.but whats done is done.

The central locking im not sure if an aftermarket one can be added to the existing central locking if it has or maybe due to cost saving all the wiring and modules are there and it just needs coding. Good look online in kia forums for a retrofit might help.

Vanity mirror. Go to the dealer or a scrap yard and buy one look online how it comes off and swap it out. Sit in a model on the showroom floor look at the difference in the mirror and just tell the parts guy you need the sun-visor one with a mirror

This is why I advocate for buying second hand. That is a lot of money for most people to pay each month, without the cost of insurance.
Well it might lack all the mod cons she would like but at least its a reliable little car that will be light on fuel.

Exactly, when I saw the price of R7100 for a sport 1.2 model, I was like, HELL NO!

I'm sure we could do the changes and thus why I asked but now I had to read through some really stupid comments.

She got what she could afford - now we look at how to slowly change it to something 'more'

Fsks chill dude, people are getting mad at Kia not you or your car.

Try this forum for answers . I found write up here to retrofit central locking but it was on a 2011

I just don't understand how hard it is to do your homework when buying a car, it's the same as buying clothes, you don't just take it and realise later that it doesn't fit you or you don't like how it looks when you are wearing it.

South Africans needs to stop the nonsense of buying brands, rather stick to knowing what you need and going for what will offer you all that at the best price.

Feck me, over 7k pm for a povo spec Picanto (no disrespect to OP)!

This is exactly why I am driving my POS till the wheels fall off even though I am a "car guy".

I see faaaaar better value putting surplus funds my into my emergency fund, travel fund, EE & the occasional splurge.
I bought a 2011 Corsa D 1.3 diesel when I got to the UK. This little nugget has 85k miles, automatic lights, auto wipers, auto dipping rearview mirror, heated steering wheel, heated seats, heated side mirrors, and aircon (of course). Basically packed to the brim with every optional extra one could need.

I do want to buy a Giulia QV in a couple of years, but since I do not have a credit record this side I have to wait until I am here for 3 years. But I am going to keep the Corsa as a run around and save the Giulia for long drives in summer.
