Kindle II the most popular e-reader in SA

What sales figures? Amazon doesn't, and to date hasn't released any sales figures for the Kindle. No concrete numbers at all. They did send out press releases lauding record sales, but a undefined increase on an undefined number of sales are meaningless. In the US the Kindle is big, not so much the rest of the world.

True that - there are no "official" sales figures out on the Kindle. But go to the States and have a look around the coffee shops etc. - Kindle is definitely the most popular! Biggest market for e-readers? The States.
Example here - I don't know the sales figures of BMW vs. Chev here in SA but when I drive around it's obvious who the clear winner is

True. The Kindle might be in more common use, but that's just due to better marketing. It doesn't make the Kindle a better device or more worthwhile than others. Each device has it's positives an negatives. Every potential buyer should research each option and make an informed decision based on facts. Making blanket statements that the Kindle is the 'better' device is misleading.
