Oh, and how does shipping to SA work? I tried ordering it now in Amazon USA, and they say they can't deliver to my address?

You can also consider converting your PDFs to Kindle format, which i would think would read much better. There is a few tools out there, here's one : http://www.pdftokindle.com/
I'm keen to get it, but like skimread, I have pdfs of a good hundred books. Anyway to read them on the kindle?

I paid around R1,300 each directly from Amazon (only way to go) including shipping. Had no problem getting them in SA took 5 days from date of orderHow much is a Kindle in SA these days? And how hard is it to get the ebooks for it?

Buying books from Amazon is really easy and there are plenty free books running wild on the webz if you spend a bit of time looking. There are some legit/legal sites with all the classics and any other books no longer under copyright (like Project Gutenberg & MobiReader) as well as a few rogue sites with pirated books
Personally I think an author is due payment for the work they have done, so most of my books come directly from Amazon.
Run 2 kindle's from one Amazon account so any books we buy are delivered to both devices.
I've just paid R3240 for the Kindle DX.
That seems a little overpriced , you can almost buy an iPad for that price.....
I also thought the DX is outdated ? [as in going obsolete and to be replaced]

All the book nerds in one neat thread. If this were high school I'd be eating your lunch.
