Kindle Paperwhite

Anyone with a Kindle know if these are decent offers, and if one is preferable over another? Have not done my research on pricing.

Pretty decent considering the price on Amazon is $139/R2553 before shipping and customs etc.

You want that 2022 one though, the Blue one is the previous gen.

It looks like a gen10 Paperwhite vs. a gen11 "normal" Kindle, but I don't really think you can go wrong either way.

If you're willing to spend ~R300 more, you can probably get a gen11 Paperwhite, though.

It seems as if the 2022 special isn't the 2022 edition. It has the smaller USB cable, not type C.

Hmm they stated 16GB so that’s what made me figure it’s the proper new one.

Still not a terrible deal but yeah I would rather get the USB-C wireless charging one, specially for the ambient light sensor.

Also didn't think it's a bad deal but will look around a bit more. 11th Gen was going for R3999 but that's out my budget. 10th Gen is going for R2999 but they don't have stock.

Thanks again

I went from 10 to 11 Paperwhite and would recommend the upgrade if you can get one. Apart from the other benefits, the USB-C is a life saver for me.

These different gens are confusing. Is the one @r4nd0m put up the 11 Paperwhite?

That looks like the gen11 "basic" Kindle. Not sure if the Paperwhite is on sale anywhere today, but here is a link to the gen11 Paperwhite on Takealot. I don't think there is anything "wrong" with the basic Kindle, especially at that price.

Yeah, not sure of the different editions. I’ve got the Paperwhite signature, but although the upgrade was good for me, I don’t find a lot of difference and any one will do you great. 10 or whatever. You’re not standing in a line comparing them all against each other and tbf each one of them is impressive in its own rights.

Sweet, thank you very much. Will place my order now and begin combing through this thread for other tips.

Thanks for all the help here. My Gen11 "Basic" arrived yesterday, and don't think i've said 10 words to the wife since.

Did a bit of stretching the truth and Amazon removed the ads for free.

First thoughts - Device is fantastic. Kindle Unlimited - a bit meh. Signed up to a few public libraries, but side-loading is super easy. My downloads are roughly 2mb - 4mb (mobi files), so not concerned about space, although I do wonder how it'll perform if I manage to start filling it up.

Next step is to see all the cover options and order myself one.

Also joined the kindle family recently scoring a paperwhite 11 gen at a good price on bf. Impressed by the screen on my he device after being skeptical on how good an eink display could be. Let’s hope it leads me on o better reading habits and keeps me less distracted by notifications.

Nice - congrats!
I can also recommend subscribing to some deals emails like Kindle Daily Deals (or BookBub ebook deals, Book Riot deals etc). I don't buy junk, don't often pay more than R50 and managed to build a pretty nice collection through gold box deals or just the normal daily stuff.

Make friends with ereaderiq.com

Add all the authors you like and then just buy their books cheap cheap.

Easy to see what the lowest price was before and by and large I rarely pay more than $1.99 for any book.

As for cover I roll without one some of the time as it brings down weight, but when I'm in bed then the flap helps to keep the light off the wife or to balance it when I lie on my side. I have the official Amazon cover.

Oh it's life changing.

I can't imagine how it would have been without a backlight back in the day, but the Paperwhite is magical and more so the newer one with the ambient sensor.
