koffiejunkie's new camera

First shot (really, I held out until I had something to take a decent picture of):

As it happens, my flat has a view on the cricket grounds, so I just hung out the window for this one :)

No foot shot

BTW - which cricket grounds?

Hehe, I have several, but they were taken later, when I was sitting with my feet on the table and playing around with bokeh at different apertures on the nifty fifty. I don't really want to post my ugly toes here anyway :)

I think it's the local area cricket grounds. Nothing professional as far as I can tell, the teams that play here are pretty amateurish.

It has arrived!

Nice.

I wonder if my wife would like to upgrade from the 350D to my 30D

I'll be back in the US early next month for a few weeks - very tempted - I did consider the 5D as my next upgrade, but I'm really happy with my EF-s lenses.

Now, if you take it to the pub again keep it around your neck.

With the exchange rate at the moment, the body was actually cheaper here

Given that you own that gorgeous 17-55 f/2.8, I'd say stick to the xxD line :) I was very tempted to buy it, but damn, it's gotten expensive!

I'm not taking it to the pub :) Although I'm sure I eventually will.

Congrats Koffie!

(now, don't leave it lying around in the pub when you go for a p ;))

If you dont mind me asking which shop did you use?

www.cameraworld.co.uk. Jacobs was a few bucks cheaper, and the guys there are really helpful, but they didn't have stock. Paid £1099 (I see it's gone up now). B&H was $1799 which was about £30 more even before I add tax, P&P duties, uk tax... (I see they have rebates now). Damn, things change fast!

I just checked the price of the 1D Mark III - £3299.98 vs $3844.95 . . . I think I'm going to try the B&H route.

That's a substantial difference! Is that including sales tax? The cheapest in the UK is Amazon right now - £2939.94.
No sales tax for internet purchases if you do it right.

I'll have my mother fetch it from the states and carry it here or to the UK if I decide to go that route.
