I don't know about that. To me it looks similar to the 40D's jpegs, which was was excellent in general. The noise reduction, in my experience so far (it's early days still) is better. But no camera I've tried gets as much dynamic range out of their JPEGs as I can do with the RAW in Aperture.
As I've said before in other threads, I shoot RAW+JPEG. If I'm happy with the way a particular image came out in the JPEG, I delete the RAW. For the rest, it gives me something to play with.

hmmm those Sandisk ones are pricey. I ordered a Transcend 300x ... will see how it works out.

Hehe, I got that Extreme IV when they just came out. Went on a trip and forgot my CF cards at home. Realised it while waiting at the airport, and I wasn't going anywhere where I knew I could buy, so I headed off to the duty-free electronics store. IIRC I paid about £150 for it. And lost my boarding pass. <SIGH> what a day!

Anyone tried the Delkin cards? I bought a 32gig one with my new cam and so far is seem pretty good, Downloading images from the cam is lightning fast. I have so far just compared the speed with the my wifes canon, But I think I should try swop the cards and see if just the card, or the camera

aahhh.. nope, Never thought about it. Why would I need one when my camera already has the function?

Depends. Some cameras don't show the card as a USB storage device. My DSLR doesn't (not sure about the G9). My Sandisk Extreme reader also read way faster than any camera I've owned.
Speed and it doesnt waste battery. I've also seen the mini usb port malfunction due to improper use.

Now if they only fix that mini-USB port so you can plug a GPS module directly into it, it would actually have some use for me

I can understand speed. Though I checked around and I would need an xD reader, and CF reader, and they are very pricy for ones that have both.
Of course anything can malfunction due to improper use, but with that, so can the flap where the memory card goes in. My card goes in, and stays in, I dont, if ever have to open the flap. On the other hand, if I was using a card reader, I would open that door/flap at least 20 times a day (especially like now were I am playing around, and take 10 photo's, rush in and download, and then go back again)
If my new cam didn't download so fast.. then maybe I could see it being usefull
I think I paid a couple hundred rand for my Silicon Power 27 in 1 Card reader - maybe even less. I recently bought a second to keep one at home and one in my bag.
The card flap on my canon and nikon is a lot more sturdy that either the protective cover for the usb or the mini usb jack itself.

I don't like having the camera tetherd to the PC unless i'm shooting tethered. My reader is currently AWOL and I feel lost without the cheapo thing. I prefer taking cards out of my camera and my camera safely stored rather than the kids knocking the camera off my desk.

Its only now while I'm messing around with all the features learning what everything does. I've still got that film mentality in my mind where you have to make notes of everything you take. I should just do it once a night and check the image data.Kalvaer, if you're uploading so often per day, you need one of these cards - you don't need to remove the card and don't need to plug in the camera

I'm still trying to get over spending 12k for my camera now. Its pretty much the most expensive thing I have forked out cash for something I wanted rather than needed in the last...well the last when ever actually.Maybe I shouldn't get one
if thats how you feel now without it. Also I dont have kids... so I dont have to worry about them. Plus where I connect it, its pretty far away from anything else.. Actually, I'll make that my photo of the day to show you what I mean.. Of course, the camera wont be there as I'll be using it

In "A" mode - when the flash is up - mine still seems to select a shutter speed thats incredibly slow - The only way I can get decent shots is by using manual. Normal?

It's a stupid thing on Canon cameras AFAIK (even though Koffie loves it
). In Av, the camera tries to set the exposure for the background. From 40d's manual:To get around this, I always use M for flash photography.
