KUILS RIVER (CPT) ADSL

My speedtest result to Londaon on my line that is syncing at 6MB:

My connection have been better the last few days.

Nice, but does it do that all day, every day?

Before September I had a reliable 250ms ping to the USA, regardless of time of day.

I just did a few tests to New York and the ping stays constantly on 260 but my DL speed is erratic, running between 1.5 to 3.5.

To London the ping is 182 but the DL's are stuck at 2.6.

I will try and check different times during the weekend.

Hmmmm, I'm in the Hazendal area, just off Neethlingshoff street.

The exchange I'm on is screwed, I guess yours might be fixed...

I am also in Haasendal but my international connection seems to be up and down.

Local is perfect.

I can't understand why the international will be erratic and local is perfect.

Are you sure your local is perfect? Did you do a traceroute?

Note how the hop from 1 to 2 is about 415ms. That's my jump from the router through to my ISP, a local connection. Pretty messed up...

Interesting....
I was under the impression it is an ISP problem, untill I started testing diffrent ISP's, and getting the same results :(
Basically logging a call every day for the past 2 weeks without any responce, ffs!!!

I am in the Soneike area. What to do???

I logged a new fault on Friday and was called back by telkom on Saturday.

Anyways, the operator guy said that there was no way it could be congestion because the exchange I am on (Located somewhere in/near Hazendal) has apparently got 270 or so free ports and is running at only 7% usage of total capacity.

Once again, they're passing it on to the technical guys to look into. Again.

So weird, it varies so much from day-to-day and time-to-time that it's hard to get a bead on it...

I have the same problem, seems to work fine in the day till about 5pm on some days and all weekend its messed up. I have been speaking to one of the supervisors at Telkom every day for 2 weeks and the final result is that they need extra bandwidth on the exchange. This is after they tested and checked everything.

Just got off the phone again with Telkom, they will call me later with an ETA on the upgrade. They say it could take weeks or months. Will let you know when I do.

So the Telkom guy contacts me now, he says he cannot get an ETA he can only tell me that it has been sent to planning.

Well, at least we finally have some motion on this it seems. Well done zaeem :-)

10Mb in Kuils River???? I'm in Highbury and they couldn't even get my 4mb line to work properly. Whenever it rains, my line was unable to sync...

logged a fault Telkom in September and still no update.

I called Telkom and they said they going to have this escalated, still no word since the escalation was logged in beginning of October.

These are my current results on a 4mbps connection

Internet here sucks:mad:

Rouxville : Same problem as the rest of you.

I'm staying in Rouxville.

Have a 4mbps line with MWEB service provider.

Telkom says I connect perfectly and have resetted the port etc.

My pingspeed on Speedtest.net and Saix.net (test site) is about 500ms, which is very high
and my downloadspeed is (sometimes) 1.5 mbps but mostly around 0.5 mbps
uploads is usually about 035 mbps.

The modem/router was changed to a Telkom guest account (to make sure that MWEB) is not at
fault and the performance stays the same.

Telkom says there is nothing wrong when I phone the ADSL helpline...........

How can we sort this ?

Only thing you can do is log a fault. Call 10210 until you get a result. Speak to one of the supervisors and explain the problem then escalate the problem until the CEO if you have to. Its the only way you will get a result.

Took me nearly 3 weeks to get a result that the exchange is congested. I live in De Kuilen close to the KFC and Mc donalds, I doubt you connected to the same exchange, so are all the exchanges in Kuils river messed up? :wtf:
