Sorry i should have been more clear, the picture as it is currently being used (storm damage) is fake.
 
The uMgeni Water site still shows no rainfall has been received since the weekend and the dam levels data suspiciously continues to drop.
 
We were evacuated to the canteen at 9. Factory in Prospecton. Still stuck at work as the roads are a mess. I need to head north. And it had to be the day I didn't bring lunch

Toyota SA: Prospecton plant damaged by #DurbanStorm

Durban - The massive storm sweeping through KwaZulu-Natal has caused damaged to Toyota's motor manufacturing plant in Prospecton, South of Durban.

A statement sent by Clynton Yon, senior manager of corporate communications for Toyota SA, said "unprecedented flooding has impacted" the plant where the automaker manufactures the Corolla, Corolla Quest, Hilux, Fortuner and Quantum as well as assembles selected Hino product.

Significant damage

Andrew Kirby, President and CEO of Toyota South Africa Motors, confirmed that there was significant damage to the Prospecton facility including the buildings, equipment as well as motor vehicles on the line.

Doubt it storm was coastal, i was in Hillcrest all day and it wasn't that bad. Problem is the catchment areas are far inland so not sure how much rain they had.
 
#DurbanStorm: Gateway bridge is fine

Durban - The South African National Roads Agency (Sanral) has confirmed that the MT Edgecombe interchange has not been affected amidst rumours that it had collapsed.

In a statement, Sanral said the Mt Edgecombe Interchange (where the N2 and M41 intersect) has been inspected by site engineers and no structures have been found to have collapsed.

Corné Roux, Sanral Eastern Region project manager for the Mt Edgecombe Interchange said a cut face on the M41 between the Mt Edgecombe Interchange and the new Flanders Drive Interchange (where the new Flanders Drive on-ramp goes onto the M41), did collapse onto the M41, closing part of the M41 eastbound.

“The actual road is, however, intact and will be reopened once debris has been cleared,” said Roux.

10/09 figures for KZN

drainage region U ( incl midmar) dams only 50% full; region W ( Northern KZN) dams only standing at 44%; V at 75%.
(Tugela Mooi, slang, rivers etc)
Next weeks figures might show some relief but, no, doubt that the drought is over in terms of water storage dams being full.

Big cock up here in the south roofs blown off trees down in just about every road , three of my trees are down , a few tiles off on the roof .
Took me three and a half hours to get off the bluff , Edwin swales was blocked , ass wipes in bayhead road were driving on the wrong side of the road and trying to cut back in the the traffic .
 
Durban storm: Death toll rises to four in KZN

A former police officer was killed after a container fell onto his car in the Bayhead area earlier.

KZN police spokesperson, Thulani Zwane says the man had been in his vehicle with an off duty officer when the incident occurred.

The other occupant of the vehicle was rushed to hospital with severe injuries.

"A container from a truck blew off and fell on top of their vehicle. A former police officer died instantly. An off duty officer was rushed to hospital for treatment. We are going to open an inquest docket and the matter will be investigated further," he says.

It brings to four the number of people who have been killed in KZN in the last 24 hours due to severe weather.

This morning, a municipal worker died when a wall she was using as shelter from the storm, collapsed on the Durban beachfront.

Water restrictions persist despite #DurbanStorm

Durban - Torrential rains on Tuesday have pushed up the levels of at least three dams to overflowing.

But some regions – while dams there have been somewhat replenished – will still have to operate under water restrictions.

Umgeni Water spokesperson Shami Harichunder explained that the amount of water resources collectively available in the system was still not sufficient to meet the full demands of eThekwini, Msunduzi and uMgungundlovu municipalities.

“It is as a result of a protracted period of below-average rainfall in the system and weather forecasters’ projections that this trend would continue into 2018, that a decision was taken by the system Joint Operations Committee (JOC) to apply to the Ministry of Water and Sanitation for current water restrictions of 15% to be extended for another year. This application has been approved and restrictions of 15% remain in place.”

He said 47 mm was received at Hazelmere in the first ten days of the month and 21 mm occurred on Tuesday.

“On (Wednesday), the level of Hazelmere Dam was at 98.53% – an increase of 1.5% from a week ago. Rainfall received in the catchments of this dam has yet to enter the dam and when it does, the level of this dam will rise again.

They must build many small catchment areas within residential areas , every week it's raining there
