Novitec Lamborghini Urus gets wild with widebody kit and 575kW

German tuner Novitec has managed to make the Lamborghini Urus even more sinister with its new Esteso performance upgrade and widebody kit.

The package is available for the Lamborghini Urus S and Performante models, with various turning packages offering outputs of up to 575kW at 6,200rpm and 1,023Nm from 2,900rpm. That’s a useful jump from the regular Performante’s 490kW and 850Nm outputs.

Novitec quotes a 0-100km/h sprint time of 3.1 seconds, an improvement of 0.2 seconds, as well as a top speed of 311km/h, making it one of the quickest SUVs in the world.

The performance gains come as a result of a Novitec N-Tronic control module, with precisely calibrated maps for the injection and boost pressure, as well as a stainless steel exhaust system with optimised exhaust gas routing.

Crims beware! Dubai Police add Lamborghini Urus Performante to fleet

Sporting a fresh new livery, this Urus also has heavy interior modifications including a service equipment storage section and an armoured gun box *gulp*

It seems like Lamborghini is hell-bent on turning the Urus Performante into the world’s most popular police car, and has followed up the Italian State Police commission with one for the Dubai 5-0. And all the while, the British constabulary has to make do with tatty Vauxhall Astras.

Let’s start with the livery, where the primary white coat has been supplemented by a dark green bonnet. A selection of vinyls and stickers are also spread across, while the front splitter, grille, side skirts, rear splitter and wing have all been painted black. It's not the most elegant look, we’ll be honest, but it’s plentiful to shake up even the most law-abiding of Dubai’s motorists.

Inside, a major overhaul of the passenger compartment has been carried out to now include an armoured gun box and fold-down infotainment display, while the boot now has a storage section for service equipment such as a defibrillator for first aid duties.

The standard twin-turbo V8 will continue to power Dubai Police’s latest recruit, delivering 657bhp and 627lb ft of torque to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. That means a 3.3s sprint to 62mph and a Vmax of 190, though the added weight has probably caused a slight tremor to these figures.

Lamborghini hits 10,000 milestone in historic sales year

There were celebrations in Sant'Agata Bolognese this week with news that Lamborghini had sold a record 10,112 cars in 2023, its 60th anniversary year.

Not only did the Italian sports car maker manage to increase its global sales by over 10% versus 2022, but it was also the first time it had sold more than 10,000 cars in a single year.

As you might have expected by now the Urus SUV accounted for just over 60% of these sales (6,087 units), but the Huracan managed a very healthy 3,962 deliveries, a record number for the ageing V10-powered sports car.

Among the 63 cars delivered in 2023 with V12 engines were the final 12 Aventadors and 51 “Few-Offs” as Lamborghini calls them.

The new Lamborghini Revuelto V12 hybrid sports car, which recently replaced the Aventador, will no doubt contribute positively to Lamborghini’s 2024 sales numbers, with the order books already stretching into late 2026.

Unsurprisingly, Lamborghini Sold A Bunch Of SUVs Last Year

For the first time in history, Lamborghini shifted more than 10,000 units in a year

With rapid introduction of new and updated models, expansion to new countries, and unprecedented growth, Lamborghini had its best year ever in 2023, selling 10,112 vehicles around the world. Not only is the Sant’Agata Bolognese automaker selling more cars, but it is doing so more efficiently, as it also posted record-breaking 27.2 percent profit margins and a new high of 2.66 billion Euros in revenue. That’s a whole lot of fighting bulls getting shifted to new owners. Obviously the main driver of this success has been built upon with the Urus crossover.

Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, remarked: “Automobili Lamborghini continues to break, consistently and in various areas, one record after another. This means that our choices and vision were correct and contributed to the company’s organic growth. The 723 million operating result together with the 27.2% operating margin are clear signs that the strategy adopted is sound. This allows us to look to the future and plan for the coming years with new and challenging goals: a future that as early as 2024 will see important innovations, including the presentation of the new Urus PHEV and the Huracán follower, and new challenges such as Automobili Lamborghini’s debut in the endurance championship with our SC63. These are also challenges that symbolize our company’s constant commitment to growth and achieving new milestones.”

Lamborghini Urus SE

Automobili Lamborghini opens a new chapter in its history with the Urus SE, the first hybrid plug-in version of the Lamborghini Super SUV, unveiled at the Volkswagen Group Media Night ahead of the public premiere at 2024 Auto China Beijing. Featuring a new design, optimized aerodynamics, unprecedented on-board technology and an 800 CV hybrid powertrain, the PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) version moves on Urus S in terms of comfort, performance, efficiency, emissions and driving pleasure. Thanks to its "two hearts", thermal and electric, the torque and power values are the highest ever, giving the SE a unique place in its category and boasting an 80% reduction in emissions.

"With the Urus we changed the paradigms of the SUV world, ushering in a new segment," commented Stephan Winkelmann, Lamborghini Chairman & CEO. "In just a few years, the Urus has become our brand's bestseller, enabling Lamborghini to attract new customers and strengthen its position in the most important markets. With the Urus SE, we've taken another step towards the future in line with our Direzione Cor Tauri strategy, moving ahead with the electrification of the range and the path toward decarbonization that began with the introduction of the Revuelto super sports car in March 2023."

An unmatched driving experience

The Lamborghini Urus SE offers an unparalleled driving experience also thanks to the plug-in hybrid system, which helps to improve the vehicle's performance and dynamics on any surface and in any condition: more torque and power at any rpm is provided by way of innovative technical solutions such as the introduction of the electric torque vectoring system between the two axles, and the electronic rear differential.

Lamborghini’s New Plug-In Urus Is Its Most Powerful SUV Yet

The new plug-in hybrid from Lamborghini kicks out 789 hp and can cover up to 37 miles on battery power alone.

Electrification is sweeping the luxury car world, with Ferrari adding hybrid power to its models, Maserati rolling out a full electric lineup and Porsche plowing ahead with its own electric ambitions. Now, Lamborghini has turned to plug-in power to create its most powerful SUV ever, the Urus SE.

The new Urus is a plug-in hybrid version of the best-selling SUV, and turns to electrical power to up the oomph. Thanks to its hybrid powertrain, the Usus SE clocks in at a mighty 789 horsepower - making it the most powerful Lamborghini SUV of all time.

To create all that power, the Urus SE pairs a twin-turbo, four-liter V8 engine with an electric motor that’s capable of producing up to 189 hp. Combined, the two power units kick out 789 hp and 483 Nm of torque, which is enough to take the Urus SE from zero to 62 mph in just 3.4 seconds - down a whole tenth on the Urus S. It’ll continue accelerating up to a top speed of 193 mph.

Lamborghini Urus gets spicier look, more power as it morphs into a hybrid

Accounting for around 60% of Lamborghini’s global sales, the Urus has become the firm’s cash cow in the same way that Cayenne has for Porsche.

Sacrilegious as it might seem for Italy’s raging bull-badged brand to build an SUV, it’s the reason rich car enthusiasts still get to enjoy the real sports cars.

Six successful years after launch, the Lamborghini Urus has been made a little spicier. Presented at the Beijing Auto Show this week, the new Urus SE ushers in a sharper exterior look as well as a hybrid powertrain.

They’ve still kept the Audi-sourced 4-litre twin-turbo V8 beneath the bonnet, but now it’s supplemented by a 141kW electric motor that raises the vehicle’s total outputs to 588kW and 950Nm, making it the most powerful Urus ever.
