Landmark Computers - Shut Down (no reboot)

Im in the same boat left my IT Job last year December due to the toxic environment of being an IT tech getting abused and the stress to pay was not worth it. You IT techs here will know exactly what i mean. So i also started an online IT store gave it a shot and well market is cut throat VERY Evetech literally destroys all of us they sell their stuff (retail) at my cost price.

So i feel sorry for you man Landmark has been going for ages and its sad to see this. I too am contemplating just getting out the IT game.

@Landmark Computers - quick question - been trying for twee weeks now to get a hold of anyone to do an RMA on 2 x PSUs. Sorry to see you guys go - the service was always top notch.

How would I go about getting my PSUs replaced? Can you please point me in the right direction - both PSUs are Corsair

Brand of PSU? Could try the local distributor.

I'm going to guess - Corsair.

EVGA on both PSUs - apparently I can take these to Corex in Jhb, but I can just see a million emails and admin.

Landmark's RMA process use to be one of the best in the country :(

I was trying to be a wiseass...guess it worked, the last bit of the word at least. :)

My first gaming build was bought through you guys, delivered by The Courier Guy, and now retired as a linux kiddy play pc.
Good times, all the best.

Andy, it's been a particular pleasure seeing your business over many years. You have always been the consummate professional with unimpeachable ethics. You have enriched the IT space with your presence and good service, and have served the industry well. I hope it has been rewarding to you, for you have certainly delivered great value and outstanding service to many.

Thanks for your outstanding work.

May your next venture bring deeper joy.

First it was Prophecy, now it is Landmark.
Methinks the days of people building PCs from parts are somewhat over. I also do think that PCs are being kept longer and longer ( the upgrade cycle is no longer what it was in years gone by )

I agree, the need to build and maintain the traditional desktop computer is no longer in as great a demand as it used to be. The main reason I believe is that the average user can have all the computing horsepower and storage he needs in a very small form factor, ie our mobile phones, tablets and things like Intel's NUC

Those of us who need much greater horsepower or are enthusiasts have always been a insignificantly small portion of the market, now the few that we are have access to online shopping and deliveries.

We can run GTA San Andreas in all its glory on our mobile phones FFS. I remember having to close as many processes as I could to have enough ram and had to set the color to 16-bit just to achieve 25 - 30 Fps back in the day.

I just came across this thread after their site was down and me and the GF sitting here gobsmacked. Truly, this sucks. Hard. Roan was my go to for pretty much all my PC needs and wants. Did a good enough job that he didn't see me often enough.

Anyone know where the group have gone off to? Or anyone good enough to replace Roan for me? This is a trust thing yo! When you trust a man to build a rig for your partner, a bond is created!

Sigh....best of luck to the team. They deserve it.

I know a bit of a necro, but the main reason is why do you need to upgrade your PC as much since Intel pretty much stagnated while AMD floundered. Think about it for almost ten years Intel dominated so much that their CPU's literally went through revision cycles only, my 6 year old I7 4th gen is still pretty capable CPU to this day, even GPUs didn't really have big leaps as before, it's only when 4k started to make more of an impact did it start to matter.
It also comes down to cost in SA, with the exchange rate as it is, CPUs that used to cost a few thousand rand now cost double that, same as GPUs.

True that... my desktop PC from 2013 is still kicking ass with GTA V and other heavy games

Contact another online store with the serial maybe they'll help you out?

If it is corsair you can just hand it back to frontosa.

Now that's sad. I have fond memories of the greatest service I got from you guys! Thank you and all the best

Wow this is sad, use to deal with them on a regular basis. even tho can go directly to suppliers use to deal with them as received decent service and will never have anything bad to say about them, always friendly and never a days **** with them.

Use to be my competition in 2009/2010 with our online store as well but even then was willing to help a brother out when needed.
