some guy just called me on my cell from a really crappy line. He said he was from @lantic and they are promoting Vox.

I asked him where he got my number and he said from a "client database".

I have never had any business with @lantic Internet... and I don't appreciate the cold call.

True to the above, we also got a call from the VOX call centre, "VOX AFFINITY" Strange part is that the particular ADSL account is private and not listed anywhere. Our suspicion was confirmed when we reported this to Telkom. It is believed that the Telkom ADSL database is circling within the Telepreneur community. What other explanation could there be for access to our private info. On top of it all is the fact that we are a VoIP Service Provider and thus picked up on this immediately. Of course our complaint to Telkom was investigated with an answer that Mr. Doug Reed will make sure that no such information will be used by his telemarketers.

Any others experienced similar "SPAMMING"?

Ha ha damn there are really some sensitive people on here who get all uppity about people phoning them. It is simple really, if you don't want calls then don't own a phone.

I just got a call from Cell C. I listened to what the guy had to offer and then said no thanks i was not interested. No sweat, no loss of sleep, no stress. Less than a minute, call done. What is the big deal?!?!

Well then stop subscribing to those late night "fun times" sms services and entering every dodgy sms competition (and other paper entry competitions which require cell numbers) that you come across as I receive nowhere near 100 per day and I have a cellphone, ADSL and probably most other services you have!

if i have time, i keep them on the line as long as possible, asking questions, hmmmm hmmmming, etc etc, and then say no thanks.

or scream at them and tell them to take my number off their database - one is allowed to get angry at telemarketers, fact of life.

No, I'm not with ABSA... but they knew I was an ADSL subscriber.... so probably one of the ISPs have been selling their customer lists.

Well i more using it in a metaphorical sense, to illustrate how annoying EVEN 1 phone call a day can be... my apologies for not including that (i thought most people will be able to interpret - didn't think some idiot will take it literal)

and if you are so "happy" to receive their calls, give me your number, and every time a short term insurer/cellphone provider/bank/life insurance/policy company phones me, ill tell them i'm not interested, but there is this guy that doesn't mind speaking to you,and listening to what crap you want to sell today...
