@lantic R59 uncapped 'bolt-on' feedback

After hours uncapped @ R59 was always too good to be true, no surprise they ended up adding the 10Mbps speed limit.

For now however, this is still a great deal for me, and will keep on using it for now. Only if, and once, my area gets VDSL enabled I will review my options to see what is the best solution then.

I'm not abusing this account either, but it is a great account for now.

I understand the issue, and can only suggest:

https://www.voxtelecom.co.za/contact

As far as the broken link, I have raised this with the Consumer division.

Regards,
Chris

Thanks, you have a pm explaining the broken cancellation form and I already emailed consumer support yesterday.

Indeed it is a good product, I don't think I've abused this service either (I have used 187GB on the bolt-on this month) yet Vox now feels the need to pigeonhole ALL VDSL users. I am sure there are 4Mbit users using more data than I am.

I am just concerned on how this was handled, all trust in this company went out the window when they did this. What stops them from just changing other T+C's on the fly without notifying their customers.

I agree. This not the right right decision that was made. The rate limit of 10Mbps will only be a temporary solution. Once more people start getting this and maxing 10Mbps they would have to implement more restrictions. I am very keen to rather see a usage based restriction than a rate limit with still completely unlimited usage.....

Same here - still a very good deal especially since my exchange is constrained to 10 meg anyway :o

what a bunch of ungratefull...

You have been sucking/bleeding/raping the line for a number years at R59, uncapped service at 20/40 mbs is f0king stupid for any company to sustain at R59 without going bankrupt :-)

/rant over

Nobody is denying the fact that there should be a fair usage policy, it's how they went about it which is being being criticised.

On another note, the line checker on the site gave me the following super useful information

ADSL/VDSL Exchange Check [https://www.voxtelecom.co.za/adsl-lines]

Please use the ADSL/VDSL Exchange Check below to verify that your local exchange supports ADSL and identify the maximum line speed supported.

* Please enter your landline number to check the DSL availability.

ADSL Check Results
Ports Available: true
ADSL Support : Yes
Max Speed : kbps

Congratulations, your ADSL line support speeds up to kbps

pfft

They rely on Telkom's data so I doubt there is much they can do about this if Telkom cannot provide the info, except maybe provide a proper error response :)

Works fine on my end.

Problem is everyone is shooting the messenger and he outright says "am a customer too"

Why shoot a general rant out at everyone?

Who is 'you' I your original broadbrush post?

Grow up!

fully grown over here, so your 15,638 posts are just like the above pointless, having 15,638 post does not make you immune nor exempt from stupidity young techie.

Excuse me - do I know you?

Have I interacted with you in any capacity beyond the single post where I pointed out that you're applying a rather broad brush to the extent that you feel that it's ok to be replying so rudely?

The answer to the above is "No"

So grow up please and interact like an adult not a petulant kid.

Cheers and have a good day.

PS: If you don't want to be called out on blatant generalisations where you refer to people 'raping' lines and suchlike, don't make such comments in the first place.

Most people here who use the fatpipe bolt-on (based on my reading of posts here for the last couple of months) do not abuse their bolt-on lines, so your rant was unjustified and uncalled for.
