@lantic R59 uncapped 'bolt-on' feedback

Can I leave it as this or do I have to change something to make it limit my usage to 1GB on G4G

It's supposed to stop automatically once your gig is finished, then you can add extra data in the control panel. They also send you an email when you reach 95% or something.

and this is on by default?

It is supposed to be the default. I specifically asked this as well when I signed up a few months ago and that is what they told me. I haven't reached my Gig4Gig cap yet, but I have come close, and had to go to the CP on their site to add another Gig. Think they blocked me on 95% or something already, could only access their site, after I added the next Gig it was fine.

Agree with you 100 percent.
I think we(they) are asking a lot for R59 @ 20/40mbs.

It is something they previously offered. They changed it without notifying any of their clients.

Doing 1TB on a 10Mbit line versus 1TB on a 40Mbit line is still the same thing, 1TB of data which has been used at the end of the day. Faster speeds at certain times may put a bit more strain on their network although bolt-on is after office hours usage.

This makes no difference for those on a 10Mbit or slower line (unless they plan(ned) on upgrading sometime soon).
Why not handle this in such a way where people with faster lines get the benefit of a faster line with the bolt-on? Vox have fantastic VDSL pricing and if Bolt-On still allowed 40Mbit speeds I think a lot more users would move across to Vox.

I am not saying leave it as it previously was, a looooot of data could get pushed over the bolt on with a 40Mbit line, although allow those with faster lines to make use of their faster lines.

There are multiple ways of doing this and still preventing people from abusing their network. They can even bring in more money than they previously were if they do it correctly.

I am currently using a 10Mbit line so it does not effect me at the moment, I would like to upgrade to a 20Mbit line. For R59/pm for 10Mbit is still fantastic although disappointing in the sense that only half my line will be used then.

How? Bearing in mind they are only charging R 59 for the month. I just think economically - whilst there be multiple ways of implementing control measures - it will not make sense.

Personally I would rather pay R 59 for my after hours uncapped account (yes at this stage I am on a 10 meg line only) than have to pay more so that premium users can have a tailor made experience.

I am not an IT person at all, so maybe I am making incorrect assumptions?

I agree, rather keep it as is now than make it worse.

Although having different types of bolt on, limiting speed on amount used, perhaps different speed profiles from 6pm to midnight and then from midnight until 6am. Whatever, there are other options which will keep clients on faster lines happier. I guess they don't care all that much, unlikely it will put much of a dent in their income. Happier clients are generally better clients why not keep both parties happy - ISP and clients.

i agree with you BUT:

What about those abusers that makes the rest of you look bad you might pull 1TB but to him its uncapped why can he not do 3TB.

Its a catch 22 and i understand your opinion however the company has done investigations(assumptions) into what may undoubtedly be a loss should they grant VDSL users their full line speeds.

This also brings into play them bringing down there VDSL pricing and may offer this to you as an alternative.

I agree, I am not saying remove all limitations on the account - Perhaps just go about it in a different way or offer a different after hours solution.

I like to think FatPipe is more of an office hours solutions or for those that really don't use much data at all.

Perhaps they're hoping more VDSL users take up their FatPipe offering. I somehow doubt that will be the case, unless forced upon them.

I think the main issue here isn't the fact that it is now throttled. It's the fact that VOX don't care enough about their customers to inform them of changes they are making that directly affect the customers.

I'm on a 10mbps line that syncs at 9mbps so the rate limiting doesn't affect me at all. But I am still pissed that they didn't inform me of the change.

They were voted best ISP on MYBB recently, I wonder what the results will be in the next survey.

Sounds like you are capped.

i find that sometimes the account only starts working late. i sometimes only get mine working close to 7pm

W.T.F

This is the first time this has happened. It seems each time I disconnect and reconnect that certain websites start working and others stop working. Soo random >.<

Extremely annoying. Really Vox? :/ I hope this is just a one time thing.

This is when/why the problems started IMHO. I didn't vote :p

Uhh so I emailed them about adding the bolt on, and an hour later it was added silently to my account. No word back from them yet... I appreciate the efficiency but they do seem to have a communication issue.
