@lantic R59 uncapped 'bolt-on' feedback

Problem is everyone is shooting the messenger and he outright says "am a customer too"

I think I've been pretty cordial towards Chris, I know he is only the messenger. He is also however a communication channel between Vox and their clientele so I'm going to voice my concerns to him but obviously any banter is not being directed to him personally. We're (hopefully) all adults here so we should understand how customer feedback works.

On another note, the line checker on the site gave me the following super useful information

ADSL/VDSL Exchange Check [https://www.voxtelecom.co.za/adsl-lines]

Please use the ADSL/VDSL Exchange Check below to verify that your local exchange supports ADSL and identify the maximum line speed supported.

* Please enter your landline number to check the DSL availability.

ADSL Check Results
Ports Available: true
ADSL Support : Yes
Max Speed : kbps

Congratulations, your ADSL line support speeds up to kbps

pfft

all lies that website:

ADSL Check Results
Ports Available: true
ADSL Support : Yes
Max Speed : 20480 kbps

Congratulations, your ADSL line support speeds up to 20480 kbps

Telkom says 4. don't quite know what to make of it tbh.

this is a forum and if you take everything to heart ....

as you were young desktop techie ...

LOL

1. I don't take anything to heart around here (especially from people/avatars who I haven't interacted with regularly)
2. Yes, this is a forum, but there are threads where your kind of post is appropriate (points in direction of OffTopic) and others where it's not - we're grownups and there is no need to act childishly in the 'serious' threads
3. I stopped being a 'young desktop techie' a long time ago :erm:

Dude get over yourself please move on everyone else has... or are you trying to reach a 30k useless post count..

@SFW007

I took offence to your post btw. "Rape the account" do you have proof of said accusation?

If not then please don't spread lies like that. If 200gb is too much @ 13Mbps speed then I don't know why they even offering it then? I'm sure my usage is even less than yours yet you come here and spread your lies and call us ungrateful? How can you be ungrateful for something you pay for. It's not free.... If it's underpriced who's fault is that?

I still think they should just handle it per user. Say if you do more than 200GB in a month they throttle you to 10Mbps, after 350GB they throttle to 5Mbit, etc, etc. This kind of model would at least be fair to all users.

Sounds very imature..

I average 200+ gigs a month you don't hear me crying.

How can you assume that I know what you doing in a month.... Lol...

I think to charge R 59 per month and then to set up systems tailor made for each user is a big ask. I think this would then become a major loss of income to them for all the system set up costs and then a string of complaints when people complain that they want Y but got X etc. If this was a premium account, then maybe but for R 59.....

In this set up there are going to be those who want a cap; others who want to be throttled etc. Either way there will be some happy, others not.

I think for R 59, up to 10 meg speeds on a relatively uncapped after hours account we sure are asking a lot of Vox when this is a great deal. I think their only fault is poor communication on change to AUP

Was Bolt-On pulled? I can't see the sign up button anymore.

You have valid points, the only problem that remains for me is that the majority of abusers are probably not even on lines faster than 10Mbps. So now all users are being limited to 10Mbps even if they only use 50GB a month but just like to get things downloaded quicker.

Still if this is the solution they want then that's up to them, it would of been nice if they opened up dialog with the MyBB users to discuss this openly.

I'm cancelling my accounts now anyway, pointless having a 40Mbit line and getting throttled to 10Mbit.

I agree.

It's fantastic value.

As a matter of interest, who are you going to move to?

Telkom 100GB softcap. I've been using a 10GB softcap account for a while now as backup and it's very solid. This way I can still schedule any downloads after midnight and not worry about that eating my cap.

+1
I agree 100%!!!! I would be extremely happy and then it would be worth while for me to upgrade to 40Mbit with them.

Then perhaps a bolt-on "premium" with say double the monthly premium but you get upto 40Mbit speeds. Bolt on and using their VDSL is pretty much silly now, unless you want to save money by moving across to 20Mbit VDSL - if your area supports it.

I get that they have the fatpipe for that, but not everyone is going to go for that.

Agree with you 100 percent.
I think we(they) are asking a lot for R59 @ 20/40mbs.
