Laptop special, any good?

Dionwired currently has those funky Dell laptops on special. I can't find a proper model number, but it is the first page on their online catalogue (the one on the home page) going for R6999. www.dionwired.co.za

The laptop will be for my wife (she wants a pink one). It will involve browsing the net, checking mail, running picasa and listening to audio. No games. The details on the advert are a bit fuzzy (pun intended). I will probably need to upgrade the ram to 2 gigs, which bothers me a bit. I don't care about the vista basic license, as I have a spare vista bussines license. Is that deal any good? I'm not too clued up on laptop prices at the moment.

These Dells can have vastly different specs, it's hard to say without seeing it. They've had good reviews though in the UK mags.
 
Looking back its the most obvious thing in the world. All this time they've been making laptops grey, black and silver; Dell was very clever to make a pink one! Regardless of the spec or price woman will buy them in great numbers... I just hope my wife doesn't see one....
 
Game has the 1.8Ghz version (T5500) Dell 1525 for R6999 (w/o internet contract).
(BLACK only - sorry)
 
I bought that Dell Inspiron 1525 on the weekend on a special from Game, R7999 without the internet contract. On the topic of the internet bundle: at R145 per month for a dial-up connection x 12 months = R1740 which is what you're spending over the year contract to only save R1000!!! On the subject of the notebook itself, I was going to get the Lenovo N500 for the same price but decided on the Dell because (a) I could test drive it in the store (as opposed to buying online), (b) it has a three year manufacturer warranty (according to Game) and (c) has S-Video output (I don't have the luxury of a HiDef TV although it does have the HDMI output as well for future use). The only loss of taking the Dell over the Lenovo is the slightly slower bus (667 vs 800) and the inferior graphics card (X3100 vs 4500MHD) but then I didn't buy it for gaming. All in all I am very happy with my purchase and can recommend it to anyone that is considering it.

The Dell I bought at Game is a T5750 for R7999 with no internet contract. The processor is a Core 2 Duo (and not a Dual Core). As I said, could've gotten it for R1,000 cheaper but not worth it as paying more than that in the end for the contract.
