latency insane (good!)

I doubt you will be getting better latencies since your data transfer medium is still wireless.

Remember I have a pretty custom setup running, and if you dont have the tools / servers I am using, the best you can do is run :

1 - run on ADSL Unshaped
2 - Use the registry Hack
3 - Proxy via overseas gaming services at the risk of DC's
4 - Fine tune your network card's custom settings and switching anything off that resembles any interaction with QOS (Quality of service)... thats all protocol prioritisation crap which does get enforced on your local client side as well... This is what networks guys refer to as "shaping" which ISP's also enforce on their side to keep certain protocols performing better than others. Hence with unshaped accounts, all protocols are treated equally important.
5 - Disable any firewall / AV filtering crap that adds overhead to your system.

Other than that, its the best you can do... anything else gets pretty technical.

so, ive done the leatrix patch, the registry hack, and average about 400ms - 500ms during 25man raids (using vodacom hsdpa). dont use most addons anymore, and Ive disabled the combat log. is there anything else I can do? doing about 7k dps on mai kittay atm, but I know it can be 8k plus. any network settings I can change, or something else? already had the modem unrestricted by vodacon (and a mission that was). need to do this as Im in a high end raiding guild, and wanna do better than I am already (theres a dk in my guild that can pull 13k on certain fights and I wanna get up there too)

Add more beer to your playtime. :D

Dusk : Did you also migrate with skulls to terenas? One of the ex skulls is a member in my guild now... dude from SA playing a pala...

yeah , im with mark and them on terenas.
What is the guys nick online ?

If you asking that question , you are safer not touching anything imo .

dont worry about me, I have enough skill not to stuff up my pc (tweaked vista enough to like it a helluva lot, and no-one likes it) just need to know what it is I should be looking out for

I do not know how you guys can get this, I was fine today till 18:00 and it shot up from 350 to a constant 630...I have no idea why...and no-one can help me ^_^

Heh, bastards. Moved to Pretoria from Durban the weekend past and sitting with 3k latency on my celphone with a gprs connection since this suburb has crappy 3g coverage. Ordered line from telkom, but you know how that goes...

I was getting very decent latency on the weekend. 512k Unshaped wireless setup. about 410ms average. Now I'm getting 900ms average on Emeriss. Anyone else having issues?

I'm on a 384k shaped line and I'm getting a solid 280ms during the day. There's nothing keeping you from getting 1gb prepaid with WA to check it out.

I have 512 unshaped with WA, and latency is 2000 ^_^. I think...Telkom...again....something wrong with exchange....

If the backbone is through IS, there is a problem with the overseas link, got the same issues last night.

The lowest ping I got through IS backbone is 380ms and then it wasn't very stable/shot up to 800ms settling at about 700ms afterward. That's on it's "unshaped after hours" thing.

With Web Africa I don't see that type of behavior at all

Hi guys,

I am an avid raider and keep swopping between telkom 3G shaped and Axxess semi-shaped fiber account. I have also tried running through a VPn such as gamemax. I get a decent ping for south africans at around 200-300 with the VPN but raiding with it is totally insane.

Can anyone raid 25 mans here in south africa with no lag issues? Whats the key? No addons have been tested. 4Meg line ...

I'm having severe problems with latencies tonight. Had to ask to be replaced in raid :(

At one point I was getting 5000ms and then prompty DC'd. A friend of mine that stays close by, also had the same issue last week, but now his is sorted. I tried both IS and SAIX and both were unplayable.

Does anyone know whats going on?

I seem to have problems every wednesday.

Using either Afrihost + Gordon proxy or Cybersmart + Gordon proxy and Wednesdays I keep getting "You have been disconnected" on my 1st login then login again and it either pops me in the queue for 5 mins or I connected, but get a DC again after a few. I eventually get in and raid but with 400+ms with spikes to 1k and get random DC's during the night.

Its been like this since the 5-7 ICC bosses patch but only on Wednesdays and the other days I get 230ms latency. Pissing me off tbh.
