Latest available OS

Shot thanks :D

A few good ones on OS6, but missed my old ones.

The original OS6 tones have categories (alarm, ringtone, notify etc), and the downloaded ones don't. So you'll be able to set as a ringtone (media --> ringtones --> set as ringtone), but not as a notifier as it doesn't have a category setting and doesn't come up in the profile settings for notifiers. Or am I missing something?

You can, in you profiles just scroll the the bottom "all tones..." and you can browse through everything.

Weird for the 8310 it says when I try update that 4.5.55 is the latest

Thats because the 8310 does not support anything newer, the phone probably does not meet the hardware requirements to run anything newer.
OS6 is only compatible with the 9800,9100,9105,9300,9700.

The 8520, 9500,9520,9550 for example only support up to OS5.

That handsets simply too old.

I would love to update my 9300 to OS6...but scared it might screw up my Vodafone Satnav seeing that it is not yet released by Vodacom (the OS that is).

Do you guys know if it will screw up my SatNav if I update to OS6????

Nope, working great here, just had to download a new version off the mobi site as my handset switch was from a storm and it was over extending on the smaller screen.

Cool...so you can confirm that Vodafone SatNav still works on 9300 with non Vodacom OS6 release?

Sorry...I am parranoid when it comes to these things. :-)

On 9300 in general i cannot confirm, i can however confirm it works on my 9300 and that of some other guy on the forums who has enlisted my assistance via BBIM, stands to reason it should work on yours as well.

Just as a note, there is nothing a provider can or will do if you use an unapproved version, except offer technical support regarding any issues.

Official simply means they have confirmed it to work on their network under their testing conditions and have updated their support system and trained staff to be able to correctly support you in times of need. They can however refuse to honor the warranty if it is deemed the the software you are running is the cause of a serious fault when the software has not been approved. Any and all software will still work provided it is compatible with the version o the OS you are running, as for satnav, the license is linked to the device pin which is software independent.

For that simple reason you do not run beta versions, but even so with BBSAK you can do a hard wipe yourself if anything major goes wrong with a beta version

OS 6.0.0.424 now available for 9700 & 9300 @ crackberry.com

I will do. I see in the file name it has "asia" in it. Hope this software does not turn my 9300 into a hongKong Fooyie phone :-)

I must just remember to delete that vendor file. Hope I can find it.

Nah, its still english
