Latest available OS

My BB 8900 is running v5.0.314 with no problems at all. Fast, stable, no reboots, battery lasts 2 days, its much better than the official v4.6.... that was loaded when I got the phone.

I on the other hand will never use another phone again. Well, at least while BB keeps me happy.

BlackBerry 8520 running 5.0.0.238 and it has been stable, smooth and though the call screen is not the prettiest, it has been solid.

I have not felt the urge to pull the battery yet ;)

The only issue that has become evident is the loss of voice dial functionality.

I don't really need this and have reassigned the left side button as lock/unlock keyboard.

Battery life seems to be unchanged for me, definitely get two days out it.

A smooth running BIS also helps tremendously :D

Nice, but I still have my eye on the new Bold.

yes yes ok. yadda yadda. i was running 192 and though i had 314.

leave me in peace to wollow in my coffee.....

this piece of crap is now doing a new trick. Ok. here are my bug lists:

1. Hangs intermittently and for no reason, you have to just wait, or opt to reboot.
2. it then suddenly refused to receive email anymore. had to re-send the service books.
3. it then worked fine and one day refused to send email, saying there is no provider for it.
4. the sound is all stuffed up. it barely rings properly, then sometimes the alarm plays a sound, other times not. its like playing the lottery.
5. and tonight, the best of all. it heated up like a hot-plate, and the battery went from 1/2 to 0 in 30mins.

This is for sure, the last crapberry i will touch. ever. im gonna grovel back to Apple for another iphone.

Well, on the bright side, that's one less user clogging up BIS...

5.0.0.230 for Storm 9500

Here you go when page loads, click on skip, scroll down and click on megaupload. works, justed it and its for 5.0.0.216

Hi W1tw0lf

Just wanted to give you some feedback, been running 5.0.0.230 for couple of weeks now and it's EXCELLENT - took the usability back to where it was before the nasty upgrade that rolled out. Only downside is WeatherBug's icon doesn't refresh, and annoying thing about showing history of messages and new message at bottom so you have to scroll down to see latest message (can't find any setting in options to fix this) but at least the phone is stable again and working much better. Have only had to do 1 battery pull since the upgrade.

I highly recommend 5.0.0.230 for Storm 9500 users.

Thanks again for the help.

Been running .238 on my 8520 for a few days and my main gripe is that neither Viigo or the Time Magazine apps work. Viigo doesn't even start. Time seems to load ok and refreshes content but once you open an article, it's impossible to scroll down to read the page. Anyone else had the same issue?

Other than that, its been smooth. All my speedtests have been higher than any test ever done on OS4. I suppose it doesn't harm that BIS has been great this week.

Had the same with Viigo and even Mxit.

I just deleted and redownload/installed them and both are working fine.

May not be necessary but sometimes a battery pull after a major update fixes strange behaviour.

Dont have Time Magazine app but will try that one.

Also cant complain about BIS _thus_ far, touch wood :erm:

Thanks. Re-installed Viigo and that's working perfectly but still have the same glitch with Time. If anyone has an solution, let me know.

Great, one down, one to go ;)

Installed the Time Magazine app and found exactly the same as you did.

Did not let that get me down, so rolled the trackpad to no avail, then pressed spacebar, nope, then pressed (B) to take me to the bottom of the page, then pressed (T) to take me to the top of the page.

Hmmmm, then pressed the menu key and chose (page view) from the menu and voila I could scroll up and down merrily.

Try it, it worked for me :D

the 8900 is behaving itself on .314. sometimes i get the odd "freeze" for 20sec but its rare, as though its busy doing something.

BIS is still rubbish though. Had to get a file from my Gmail account today, to my device and email it from my BB email. From mail.google.com -> login -> search for mail -> download 125k -> took 18 minutes with multiple timeouts, or just "loading..." for 5-6 mins at a time.

I wish someone would buy Vodacom. Not to inject more funds, but to fire the obviously incompetent people.

New leaked os for both 8900 and 9000 on first post, links included :) .348 is out !

There's apparently an official OS 4.6.0.304 for the Bold 9000 out as well. Will see if I can find a link.

Right, I have downloaded .348. There are quite a few pages on Crackberry about reboots and other issues, but I'm gonna wipe my device and load this. I'll let you know what my findings are :)

Great stuff, it works! It does take away some of the functionality and I have to select page view on every page but it's a great app with good articles so it's worth it. Funnily enough, I had exactly the same problem after re-installing Viigo but found that opening the full article allowed me to scroll right down and read it all. Just won't scroll down on the original summary page it defaults to.

Thanks again.

.348 Working well - for now! Did a complete wipe and install. Loading my important apps now: Vodafone Navigator, Ubertwitter etc.
