LCD and Plasma Bargains and Discussions thread

How so? Show me where I've fibbed.

You used to call certain websites biased and untrue etc... Those threads have long ago been locked and Dolby didn't fib, he said the blacks weren't as great as everyone said, he omitted the part about the overall blacks.

you okes need to grow a pair and just agree to disagree. I have lost count of how many threads have been locked coz you always end up bickering like two little girls :wtf:

not that I really care but I think its getting a bit much all the threads spamming the DSTV-TopTV-SABC-TV-and-Multimedia section of the forum arguing who has a better black

Where is the fun in that? Also it's intrinsic to all tech unfortunately.

If you're going to quote from the site, at least read the whole article. You must have missed where they gave the PS51D550 a "Highly recommended" 4.5/5

I didn't say it was a bad TV - did I?
I said the blacks are average and not mind blowing at all. In fact, I found them quite grey

You plasma guys should really learn to take a little criticism.

I second that... if the oke asks for an LCD, recommend him an LCD if he asks for a plasma recommend him a plasma... and everybody knows an LED is actually an LED backlit LCD.

Unfortunately they don't. Even regulars don't know the difference. And this is possibly the worst opinion/advice ever, given that people judge TVs on torch mode, incorrectly, in bright shops with salesmen who haven't a clue. This means they formulate the wrong opinions and therefore possibly go after the wrong thing.

...Funny how those moaning never take part. Have tissues for your issues. ;)

Oh FFS! Stuck record much? Garbage in Garbage out!

You couldn't give a **** about newbie people buying TVs and the world of misinformation!

But I do care about your misinformation. You are telling me that there are no reputable retailers with employees worth their salt in the industry, I say that is pure garbage misinformation just to support your own private agenda, whatever that may be.

Stop underestimating the intellect of the average consumer, not everyone is an idiot.

No agenda. Common sense. Next time go to IC for advice, not MyBb...

Go to iStore, not MyBb / iPhoneZA...

Yeah it's all those salesmen employees writing those Internet review sites...

All the guys making vids on YouTube. Their entire lives funded from being a TV salesman!

You couldn't give a **** about noobs buying TVs. Shame on you!

Must be a salesman yourself. ;)

Not by a fat chance, I am just getting sick to read the same  garbage over and over. I am 100% sure you have shares in the Plasma TV business.

Then move along, you have nothing to see here. Learn that information rarely changes (we have 5 year old HD Ready Samsung LCDs with better blacks than 2011 Sony LCDs, for example). Learn especially that salesmen's' tactics NEVER change. ;)

And stop underestimating the intellect of the average customer. If they buy plasma because they tested and researched then it's their business.

Rather say that your agenda never changed
Cheers.

I am currently in the market for a screen. I've done a fair amount of research and have narrowed my choice down to 2 screens, the Samsung P51D550 & Panasonic TH -P42U30. The Samsung I can get for R8999 and the Panasonic for R7999 (Audiovision special).

Which would be the better tv?

Will be using it mostly for games (xbox360, some pc games) and movies.

Don't know enough about Panasonic... Is the 42" a FHD model? Or HD Ready? Considering Samsung/LG 43/42" are around R3,999 it seems quite pricey, leading me to think it's not an entry model.

Can't go wrong with the PS51D550 as per this thread. Much bigger too. :)

What's your viewing distance?

get the biggest TV your budget can buy :) my eyes are too used to my 47" (3 meters away....)......
