LCD and Plasma Bargains and Discussions thread

More than likely because it's a demo model which can been set to Torch mode for months and not taken care of.

They can try enabling the 'scroller' to see if that removes the retention. If not, it's burn-in.

Rather look elsewhere and utilise your budget.

I think it's burned in really good, was just curious.

The LG logo was very visible about 38min into Toy Story, then they put it off, I was sad I was just getting into the movie.

Back to the drawing board then, no stock at other branches? Might be good to start phoning around.

Nope was the last one, but it's okey I would rather save up till January and then comfortably buy something in that R12-14K range rather than now at this moment which will stress the budget.

By then there'll certainly be no more plasma. It's OK though, if you've never experienced it enough to get into it, it won't matter much whether you get LCD or plasma.

No stock at other branches or other stores? Must be out there... Just depends how far you're willing to go to find one.

I phoned immediate surrounding branches did not go all detective :)

Ag you know I saw yesterday, plasma you have to buy the best one otherwise stuff like that happen burn in etc.

I'll rather get a decent Samsung/LG, LED backlit.

PS. The manager at House and Home Tygervalley thought I was delusional when I said plasma is starting to become discontinued like the companies are stopping the manufacturing.

He did not believe me AT ALL...

Edit: I referred to samsung specifically

Not true, stuff like that happening is user dependent - like most things. ;)

Sure.

And this reinforces how bad it is going to a shop for TV advice. We have a generation of people going in, being told by those not qualified to that LCD is better, and then coming home to tell their friends and the internet. A vicious cycle which has contributed to plasma's demise.

Ask the store to check on the system if any other branches have stock.

Not going to support them.

Look at the gorgeous advice Postman gave me and in silly hours of the night when God isn't even awake anymore.

Point is he didn't need to do this, the manager at that store I dont expect to have in depth knowledge of every product in their shop, but at least should be up to date with the important stuff like hey we are selling stuff that will not exist in a month you get the point instead of solidly saying that untrue etc etc making me the client feel like a idiot instead of saying maybe " hey Im not so sure or aware of that, do you mind if we quickly go google this." Bamn! Everyone's happy.

Postmanpot you don't perhaps own a TV shop?

I would once support that shop. You have a gift!

I don't. The 2005 - 2015 decade would've been the best time to own, at least plasma was available. ;)

I'd feel dishonest opening a TV shop that only sells LCDs...

Thank you.

Well if you ever loose your job and want to be a tv rep I will vouch for you

:)

That you will at most shops, unless you going to a specialist av store. But whatever ever man was just trying to help.

Samsung, LG and Sony are welcome to send me their offers.

I'd love to work for Sony, truly believe in their products and quality. I like the Japs and I'd return much of their lost local market share back to them. It is important to have market leader from Japan keeping Korea and China in check.

I love PlayStation... I had a PlayStation One and boy did I play Syphon Filter and Final Fantasy more than what was healthy

Loved Syphon Filter too. Maybe look at Sony LCDs when the time comes. :) The build quality puts Samsung and LG to shame.
