Samsung, LG and Sony are welcome to send me their offers.

I'd love to work for Sony, truly believe in their products and quality. I like the Japs and I'd return much of their lost local market share back to them. It is important to have market leader from Japan keeping Korea and China in check.
How did Panasonic lose their way so badly in SA? You still get their stuff in US even at retail stores. Here....didly

My eyes were all the research I needed

Do go on, what is it that you saw?

Panasonic have lacked presence since nearing the end of the CRT days. There've always been very few Panasonic flat panel LCD/plasmas here, and only available from specialist AV stores. I suppose there was a lack of marketing, getting them into Massmart stores, and having the Koreans take over.

Panasonic......the quest for zero presence?

I would try find a UA40H5300. I'm wary of the unusual model numbers (UA40H5303 in this case, I think it has to do with being assembled here, or some parts manufactured here). But I'm sure most would be pleased with it, and it has a 2 year warranty. The price is good considering it has SMART. It is entry level, if looking for something to do the job it'll be perfect. If looking for picture quality, 6 Series minimum. Do compare with LG too.

Thanks PP :) I wasn't able to find a series 6 led on the Samsung website but I'll take another look later.

The current 'entry' 6 Series would be UA40H6200, you'd be lucky to find it at between R7,000 - R7,500. Last year's one would be great too if you can find one, UA40F6100. It might not be worth it at that point, you might prefer rather going for a 46/48" 5 Series. For most, screen size will be of more benefit than PQ.

Oh, I see. Will do some searching but R6k for a smart fhd led is a pretty good price. I don't need it but that price is so damn tempting.

Much better deal and cheaper than what a 6 Series would cost. This seems to be a good equivalent from LG.

I haven't used LG much, but I test drove a new 60" FHD plasma of theirs and was very happy with the interface, SMART, etc.
Awesome, thanks.

Howzit guys

Quick question to the experts:

I'm looking at buying a secondhand Tv for the bedroom and can get these 2 at R3500 each. My question is which is better and why?

UA40EH5000R
UA40D5000PR

Will be buying by Frid

Typical usage will be for watching football in HD and Series maybe a bit of PS4

Thanks
