I'll take 2 at that price . I took advantage of the Dion Wired Samsung 50" UHD, very chuffed so far. Now to activate the Vox fat pipe.

Also bought one and it's awesome! The upscaling makes a huge difference in even my smallest movie files.

Anybody else have issues registering the TV's MAC address on the Vox website?

Nope. Setting up the million free gigs was actually quick and painless. Not what I expected at all.

To anyone who is thinking of getting a tv grab this one. You won't regret it.

Shaun, that is odd. I contacted Vox help and they asked for screenshot of the MAC, proof of purchase, ID, etc.

If you used those settings I mentioned, please don't use these settings:

Colour Space: Custom (Red - R47, G0, B3; Green - R27, G53, B12; Blue - R4, G11, B50; Yellow - R53, G 50, B10; Cyan - R20, G54, B53; Magenta - R46, G0, B50)
White Balance 2-Point: Red Offset 2, Green Offset 0, Blue Offset -4, Red Gain 0, Green Gain -12, Blue Gain +3

These settings are unique to the panel the reviewer used, your TV will measure differently - to use them would risk making the picture worse, not better. For Colour Space you should select "Auto"

So far it's going well, but the HDMI ARC is driving me nuts - sometimes it will switch back to the AVR, other times not. And then I have to switch inputs or even the AVR off/on before the sound will go back to the AVR. Also using the Samsung remote to control the Explora works OK, but not very intuitive.

When I first used the TV to listen to music on my DLNA server, it worked fine. But today it just would not work, no matter what I did - switched audio outputs, AVR off/on, etc.

Other than the temperamental ARC, really liking the TV

So I ended up going for the Hisense 55" and I must say it is amazing! I must still find a tutorial or something with the best picture settings as I am a complete noob with that. I was going to go for the 50" LG, Hisense UHD or Sinotec UHD but when you compare a 50" to 55" there is quite a big difference. Will look into UHD at a later stage when it comes more widely used! All in all I am completely happy with my choice - you literally feel like you are being swallowed which is great!

I did everything online. It did ask for the Wired mac address and my id number. The account was created and I had to email them proof of purchase within 48 hours or it would be suspended.

Pretty painless actually.

You'll struggle to find documented settings online, because most people buy the brand names.

I'd be interested to know how your TV performs at night in the dark with a black image with white cross/dot in the center - care to post a pic? You can use this - http://i.imgur.com/rDxquZX.jpg.

Yeah I thought I might struggle but surely there a few million of these units sold around the world.

I will try this tonight - but as mentioned my current settings are still the standard out of box settings - only thing I changed was colour temp while watching something on Netflix last night as it looked great to me.

Yeah, it's strange.

Start by setting the picture move to Movie/Cinema, and then working from there.

If it doesn't 'pop' enough for you, use Standard mode. No Dynamic/Vivid/Store/Demo AKA Torch modes, please. :)

(This is probably how you originally saw the TV at the shop. :()

Haha not a chance. The dynamic and bright makes things look luminous almost - strangely most of my friends like watching sport in the that mode but to me it just looks fake!

I must say tho for normal netflix and TV watching the standard settings were quite good but I know they can be better with a little tinkering - maybe it is time I read up on what all the different settings do and try that if I don't find a tutorial. Changing the colour temp tho to warm made a big difference tho when watching last night at night - really made the picture look nice and more "real" if that makes sense?

A bit OT but I'm hoping someone else here has an old PS3 (2007 version) hooked up to a NAD or similar AVR to help me out.

Having recently bought a new TV, I re-visited the wiring and all the setup on the PS3, NAD, DSTV, etc.

Along the way I realised that this whole time I had the PS3 HDMI audio output set to PCM, which means the PS3 does the decoding and sends through PCM. I then decided to switch it to Bistream so that the AVR can do the decoding.

Now, here is the issue (maybe): the AVR only says DTS or Dolby Digital on the source format, even when on the PS3 I have selected the DTS-MA or DD-HD tracks (Adele & BladeRunner Blu-Ray)

Does this mean:

a. the display on the T757 only displays DTS/DD whether the source format is DTS-MA/DD-HD? or
b. the DTS-MA or DD-HD is not coming through?

If a, then obviously I can leave the config as is, but if b, then I will have to revert the config on the PS3 back to PCM.

Thanks!
