LCD and Plasma Bargains and Discussions thread

Exactly. But unlike last year's x6 sets, the only real differences between the B7 and C7 is the design and speakers (although it's not exactly clear what the difference in the speaker setup is)

But I guess if you can afford an x6 or x7 set, then you most probably are getting a standalone surround system with it so it's kinda moot.

B7 and C7 are identical panel-wise. C7 is the premium model with a more refined build / look and Dolby Atmos processing support.

Amusingly, the B7 is way more expensive here than the C7.

Also the LG OLED's will give you deeper blacks, better contrast and better viewing angles. Samsung QLED will give you somewhat richer colours, and maybe more overall brightness. The Q7F is the successor to the KS8000, and according to Rtings the KS8000 is actually a superior TV. That said, it's not an insignificant price difference.

Bear in mind the Q7F has been harshly criticised for restrictive viewing angles, so if you / others don't sit directly in front of it, your experience will degrade.

All the x7 OLEDs use the same panel so that's surprising because the B7 is supposed to be the "entry level" set.

not quite the C7 is the entry level and then B7 E7 G7, but yes the all use the same panel.

R30k for the C7 is normal price, i am personally waiting for the price to drop.

I think you’re mistaken. The C7 and B7 are both entry level. The only difference between the 2 are the design.

Can't comment on anything other than I love my c7 55". Cannot fault it at all. Beautiful picture quality. Webos is great. Smart remote works well. HDR is nice but Dolby vision is spectacular, especially since most new netflix titles come out in it. I use WiFi only and stream 4k content without an issue....

For HDR content the Samsung 65Q7 Curved looks incredible - very good special for R29.9k imho.

Are you playing Netflix via the TV apps or externally? If via the apps, how's performance in Web OS generally? Have you tried Plex on it?

Yep only use the apps, i sold my Apple TV cause on need anymore :)

Nope never used plex, only apps i've used is : Youtube, Netflix, Amazon, ChannelnewsAsia
The webOS performances admirably and is really easy to use. the magic remote is fantastic how it can be used as a pointer or normally if you wish. Switching between apps is almost instantaneous

Black Friday conundrum...

So I've had my eye on an LG B7/C7 OLED for quite a while. Size wise I'm looking more at a 55" mainly because of price (and the fact that a 65" would probably be a bit too much for the room).

Makro has the 55" C7 on special for R29,999 in their Christmas catalogue (R49,999 for the 65" with an SJ7 soundbar included).

But Black Friday has thrown in a curveball as the Samsung Store/Makro/Dion Wired has the entry level QLED Q7 for R19,999 (55" flat) or R29,999 (65" curved).

The C7 is obviously the better choice ito picture quality and specs (webOS 3.5, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos), whereas the Q7 mostly has design (incl. much better cable management with the OneConnect box and a more premium remote) in its favour. But is the C7 worth R10,000 more?

Any thoughts from C7 or Q7 owners?

Bloody hell - I would jump at the C7 65" for that price. I paid R69,999 for my 65"B7. Having said that, I did get a "free" LG 55" OLED full HD only TV (approximately R20000) and a 5 year warranty for only R4000 extra.

I also struggled to find out what the difference was between the B7 and C7 - all TV's in the range have the same panels. I do know that LG saved on costs with the B7 by excluding the Harmon Kardon speakers. No biggie to me as have my own sound system.

Anyway, Stuff magazine just gave the B7 the TV of the year award here in SA - although I don't know how much one should read into it seeing as they thought it came with the Harmon Kardon speakers.

Whatever, I would thoroughly recommend any of the 4K OLEDs though (2017 series).

Picked up the Samsung Q7C 65" yesterday.

For R29.9k it's an amazing deal.

Not quite OLED LG levels of awesomeness, but for that price, 4k, HDR and 1500 nits I'm sold.

Also fetching a Samsung no gap wall mount today - I think it will be a worthy replacement to my 5 year old series 7 LED.

Netflix 4K HDR I'm coming for you.

Hisense you may keep your TV's.

Grats on the purchase. Would've seriously considered it, if it wasn't curved. Never bought into the gimmick. Are the viewing angles as bad as reviews say?

Need to get tv for the MIL
but so far haven't seen any black Friday deals for 40". Everyone advertising 32 or 50 and up...

Budget 3-3,5k...

Dunno yet going up later will let you know !

I think it will be fine for my setup though ... can't be any worse than my 5 year old series 7 which is "livable" if not ideal off axis.

Check around for the Hisense 39". The Hisense 43" UHD is extremely popular.
