LCD and Plasma Bargains and Discussions thread

Guys,

What do you think of this set. I have been looking for a LED, 100Hz at around R6-7000. This seems to fit the profile. Good / Bad?

Seems the USB will play avi files.

The LG site do not specifically say 100 Hz, unless I missed it?

LED localised dimming will be better than the CCFL, same TV same engine, surely you get a better picture and viewing with the LED?

Seeing as I just spent almost R40000 on "backward technology", I trust you will be so kind as to try and prove this comment of rather epic trolling proportions. You can do this by taking up my challenge of finding an LCD of comparable size and picture quality and then giving us it's price. Your competition is the Samsung 64" E8000. Happy hunting.

Backwards technology is generally cheaper.

But if price is your thing, my 40k would have been better spent on the 55" http://www.dionwired.co.za/audio-visual/samsung-55-inch-3d-smart-interaction-led-tv.html

LOL. So, you base picture quality on Hz alone! Ok, say we go with that, the first tv you stack up is R20000 more expensive. The second TV is 10" smaller for the same price. I have one "word" for you.

What makes your tvs picture quality better than the others listed?

Local dimming is found on higher end models. Speak for them instead of applying their benefits to run-of-the-mill LED edge lighting. :rolleyes:

Well firstly that Hz measurement is marketing bs, it's 10x60Hz fields advertised as 600Hz to trick buyers.

Secondly that LED-LCD would never match the PQ, black constant, size and experience of a E8000 plasma.

I really don't mean to insult you, but it's apparent with every post of yours here that you know little of what you speak, and are not interested in reality, but rather trolling.

Firstly, I never said my tvs quality was better than those listed. I asked you to present LCD's of comparable PQ. If you dont know what comparable means, that might explain your posts. Anyway, you were the one that intimated the Hz of your LCD gave it better PQ, not me.

Anyway, in case you missed it, my challenge is for you to find LCDs of similar PQ AND size and then show us the price. My point being that you will find that when you present such LCDs that compare to the E8000, you will find it costs a lot more for the same size and quality.

Thus the only thing backwards being actually spending the extra money on an LCD.

As for buyers remorse, if I didn't have bronchitis I would be hopping around with joy. If I had the choice, I would buy it all over again. Without having calibrated anything yet, I watched a BD of Real Steel last night. PQ is amazing. The size of the picture is awesome. So, to summarize, I think the E8000 is amazingly awesome :)
 
Both the ES8000 LED & E8000 Plasma are equally highly rated, each with their own strenghts. One does though get a larger screen size for the same money with Plasma; 55" vs 64".

Is it available here? If yes, where? Funny, looked at it 4 weeks ago oversees. Not a 3D TV, which i found little bit strange. The price on special was around 14k our money. I even asked them to deliver to SA and the price that they came with was around 6k. In the shop looked not too bad. No where close to Panasonic new series, which looked amazing. But the price was very good.
