Plasma owners following, please comment if this has ever been an issue for you. I will update the list here.

No. Seeing as IR is most evident on a blank screen, i assume Roman enjoys watching a blank screen? IR is the nature of the tech, static gases etc. IR lasts shorter than a virgin's first experience, so what's the hang up? I game profusely on my plasma, without IR. And if i pause something on my screen for a long period, the IR dissapears as soon as the gases begin to move again. I once posted pictures of my LCD with IR, and that was more irritating and stayed longer than IR on my Plasma?

Nope, I described a real world scenario, pause icon imprinted onto the black part of a letterbox Bluray.

I game profusely on my plasma, without IR.
Again I come back to ... is TV in a mode that disables its pixel shifting mechanism?

If you getting IR while pausing a BR for long periods, why dont you use the sliding burn protection feature when its paused?

If you set the screen size to Screen Fit for the clearest 1:1 pixel mapping e.g. to see text properly in PC application, you should notice that Burn Protection (pixel shifting) is disabled (menu grayed out).

As usual you've completely missed the point, which was using a (1080p) plasma as a PC monitor you either choose less than the clearest picture (no 1:1) or a good chance of IR (no pixel shifting). You cant have both.

My question would be who is running their plasma in 1:1 pixel mapping, and still not getting IR? Easy to test, set your TVs to Screen Fit/Just Scan and leave a static high contrast image on for 15-30 min.

Pixel shift disengaged on purpose. I can't be aiming down the sights for a headshot and pixel shift engages.

Ahh...the joys of only owning a Samsung HD Ready plasma. It's scaling all the time regardless, so leaving it in 16:9 with pixel shifting means missing out on nothing :)

As stated many times here, I agree that picture quality beats easily out LCD except in sunlight. The damn thing can be mirror then. Most of my watching is at night. Watching rugby at my parents' place on a Sony LCD reminds me why I put up with the reflections.

IR goes with plasma technology, you just have to be aware of it. Expecting lengthy static desktop use is unrealistic and you'd be much better of with a LCD. I've never had IR and I use my TV with a PC running Win7 and XBMC, plus a PS3, Wii and DSTV. I am careful, but with the right desktop settings and XBMC, PS3 and Wii auto-fading on pause, it's hard to go wrong.

Got a cheap-a$$ JVC plasma connected to an old laptop running XBMC - I play a lot of music and as a result a portion of the screen is static for long periods. Never saw any IR at all.

The only related thing I noticed was when my old dstv SD decoder under scanned the image so the bottom cm or so was always blank. During this time that bottom cm was a tiny bit brighter when watching movies. But its disappeared completely within a month of switching decoders.

So yeah IR is possible with modern plasma's but you have to almost try to make it happen and even then its temporary.

LMFAO I pulled the same reasoning. I just said "no cash in my pockets so won't buy it on credit, anyways it's not full HD"... Wonder how long I can convince myself
