LCD/led/plasma specials

Shot pmp! I'll scout for some pricing. Any ideas on when Samsung is releasing their new series for 2012?

The AudioVision people in CPT told me March/April. But I don't think I can wait that long for a PS51D550 - only problem is that so far, AudioVision is the only place I'm finding it in stock (at R11K, vs. that Foto Discount World price of R9300).

What do you want the TV for?

Do you understand the differences between cheapie and branded TVs?

I have an old 54cm tv in the room. i watch normal sd dstv channels. i also sit about 2m away from the tv in my room. i don't need anything flashy for now. reason i want to put a lcd in is free up some space and mount it in the air. room size also cater for about 26''-27'' lcd. i would prefer the full hd cause it will give me a better picture quality. i also don't think that 1'' will make a difference when viwing it fro that distance.

BTW... In a woman's case i think an ince does matter..LOL

Not true, or will you be playing 1080p media?

For SD TV, branded sets blow cheapies out the water. Once again I strongly recommend LA32D550. Otherwise I would go with a branded 26", probably HD Ready (doesn't matter on a small TV).

Remember that getting an LCD for SD TV is taking a step forward and then a good few steps backwards...

i see PmP

http://www.catsdigital.co.za/samsung-la-32c450-32-lcd-tv.html (series 4 32").. more $.. but worth it for 450 model

http://www.catsdigital.co.za/32d4003.html --- also quite a good one for some extra doh

@PMP... any comments on the above...?

@ Stevie G... really, I wouldnt waste $ on a 25"(if this size even exists)/27" LCD... really... I think
1. You gonna pay BIG to get that size on branded products
2. Rather go for the norm.. 32"/40"/42" is produced in big nr's... iow, cheaper (even if branded by bigger brands)
3. The lower end smaller type tv's never come with enough HDMI slots/USB features... rather go 1 step bigger and get the lot... (like pmp said, the d550 comes with alot of hdmi ports and has the usb media function)

i would have gone for the D550, but size is the problem in my room. 26''-27'' will suffice for my needs. 32'' will be pushing it.

Sorry I'm not too sure about where to find one, but check Tafelberg, Hifi Corp, Audiovision etc. and then take price to Game who will beat it by 10% of the difference in both shops' prices (a small amount, will cover your petrol :)). Assuming Game stocks it.

The model you should look for is the Samsung LA26D400. Compare with LG, Sony as well if they do those sizes.

If you want to test properly, make sure the TVs aren't under extreme lighting. Ask for the remote and fiddle with settings, take off all the shop mode settings like full dynamic contrast, 100% brightness and contrast, etc...

I'd bite bullet and go for 32"... Rather adapt to size then be sorry ..jmo

Sinotec...heard good and bad. More bad then good. But then again, don't think it really makes a big diff on smaller screens. Don't reckon u see pixelation and all that too quick..

Thank you. So would most of you agree this is the best option in the 10k price range?
Darn good price for this TV. Only comparable model would be the 46D6000 LED from FDW @ R10,295. Depending on how much watching you're going to do, the reduced electricity usage over the TV's lifespan will probably make up the difference.

Then its down to the technology/feature differences between two models e.g.

51" glass screen vs 46" clear synthetic screen
LED brightness/pop in well light conditions vs Plasma natural look in darker conditions
FHD 3D on the D550 vs half FHD 3D on D6000
100Hz engine + LED motion vs 50Hz engine + 600Hz Plasma panel refresh
SmartTV on D6000 vs no smart features on D550

Best to check them out side-by-side if you can, to decide whats more appealing to you.

Nope shouldn't from about a meter even

Will I be able to get a decent 40" for under R6000? I want to use it in our living room connected to the HTPC i'm building. I will be watching alot of HD content.
