LCD/led/plasma specials

What's his salary like?
Huh?
He basically said that in his opinion, the features are better in the LED and the HD ready wont be great on the content I am watching, saying that in his opinion :D it would be better on the LED or LCD.
Wherever you look, Plasma seems to be the better option, however you need a full HD one and that pricing is way too high IMO

He doesn't know what he's talking about. Most on salesman's wages don't. (No disrespect.)

Nor do you.

Marine, go ahead and take a salesman's advice over that of a forum who have actually spent hours analysing your specific conditions, who own various techs, who advise others on a daily basis who report back, etc. - leading to objective advice.

"Couldn't care less." ;)

How would you know, I mostly respect you view and the effort you give here but I think the continuous f@rt against more modern and advanced technology are now becoming boring to say the least. That led to two very good and sticky threads to be shutdown. You buy HD ready only IF you really cannot afford something better. You buy plasma for the same reasons and only if the risk of burn in is small. If you have kids that risk is high. The distance of a deciding factor for whether to buy a FHD TV or an HD ready is a donkey scheme well ridden to the ground. Maybe it's time you retire the effort of enforcing your lame criteria on others.

It looks like this is drifting off topic, we've seen the previous one get locked cause of it. Why not just try keep the topic on bargains?

Agreed. PP should think of retirement and let someone else to the advising. (Just joking)

:D
Guys you all going to laugh at me, I spoke to one of the guys at the shop and looks like I am going for the
SAMSUNG LED 40" D5500.
If you want to go that way you can save yourself a few bucks by going for the D5000 (unless you want the Samsung SmartTV functionality which the D5500 adds).

Benefit of going with the LED would be its the thinnest, lightest of all the TVs discussed, for wall mounting.

I think the issue I am looking at is the power consumption, size, features and price for the unit.
If I had R8k to spend I would look at the D550 plasma

Stop being a douche and read the posts prior, including others', instead of nitpicking something out of context like a douche. I have no time for such douche-like antics and will gladly retire from engaging with douches.

Power consumption - R10 per month, maybe R15? Maybe even less. Unless you do most of your viewing in the bedroom.... ;)

To harp on about power consumption is a complete fallacy and is disingenuous when putting techs up against each other.

Size - what's 3" at five metres?

Features - list them?

Price - isn't it like R5.5k?

Basically, you've failed to explain the salesman's opinion and your understanding/agreement of it, leading me very confused. Others too, I'm quite sure.

You will have this thread closed down in no time with such comments and attitude. We will all be glad if you stop punting plasma's and make people feel "for the worse" because they did not follow your recommendation and were advised by a salesman that the additional features and more modern technology on the TV is worth the buy.

As I said YOU already shut down two very good threads.
