So who has pre ordered it? Suppose to ship the 22nd. I have and cant wait to get hold of it. Have to see if its going to make a real impact as a input device.
 
^^^ Yup. Pre-ordered last year and have been quite excited to start using it. The whole taxes and Leap PR nonsense - I'm over it now - I'm not sure if they've cancelled my order or not - I think they're flooded with queries right now to respond in time.

I quite keen to start using Geco:

And I'm also keen to map common actions (in the various apps I use) to gestures - and also simple commands like copy/paste/cut etc.

Have you been charged for the device yet?
 
My account has been charged (Thursday evening) - just awaiting shipping information. Hoping it gets here some time next week - at least the Airspace store will be open by then :). The total came to R933 = Leap + shipping + taxes. Gonna be interesting to see how much it retails for in SA...I have a feeling it'll actually be cheaper - probably around R800, I'd be surprised if it cost R1000+.

If you pre-ordered and you've still not been charged, maybe send them an email as per their tweet:

when Leap motion support contacted me a few days ago they said my order was set for fulfillment on the 22nd of july but thats probably in pacific time which means 7pm is only 10am so our confirmation will most likely only come through tomorrow in our time (eg. 4pm pst)

Yup - I'm also just chilling until tomorrow before I send them an email. Will post here as soon as I get any tracking info. Also most of the reviews so far haven't been too exciting, and it seems as though the software has some catching up to do with the hardware. So actually - I'm kinda happy to let them iron a few things out first before I plug mine in and start downloading software.
 
The problems are deeply built into the leap motion, with reviews saying tracking isn't what you'd expect and most of the apps not correctly using the api or not knowing exactly how the leap motion works, makes one imagine that they might end up breaking it out of frustration. I doubt they'll fix it before we get it; the apps not working nicely can be a driving force to develop something better.
 
If I hadn't already been charged - I would be very tempted to cancel my order right now. You been reading the reviews? I've yet to read anything positive. I also think it's going to me more hassle than it's worth to send it back for a refund. Guess I'm just gonna have to live with it until it (hopefully) improves. Eh.
 
I haven't bee charged yet. My excitement have somewhat been muted by the bad reviews from users who got theirs. Will give it a day or two to follow up with them, maybe cancel order. Hopefully we are not buying a expensive paperweight.

Not yet. I've just sent them an email asking to update me on the shipping status...will post here as soon as anything happens :).
 
Ok there are some positive reviews.

"so I drove home to pick up mine on my lunch break, set it up, recalibrated it (I figured out the trick is to not move the device's location, but to point it at the edges of the screen, doing it faster got me 88 or 90 on a PC that is under spec for leap) and I have been using it since, in fact, I was able to browse to this website and log in, also controlling just normal programs on the PC. No its not as quick as I can do it with a mouse(I am a FPS gamer), but I feel that in time I will get use to it as for the last hour and a half that I have been using it, it has gotten much better. The lighting here at work are the large florescent bulbs (the kind that are 3 feet long, I am in a warehouse) and this leap seems to have no problem. Also I have been using it in accuracy mode.

So far I am pleased with mine, but take my report for what you will."

I sent an email to leap 2 days ago. They haven't replied yet. Was charged on Thursday, haven't received any email with any tracking info yet though. Anybody tried the "Fed Ex Trick" with the reference and got any details?
