Leap Motion

by that time i could probably have ordered a new one for cheaper and gotten it by the 26th of july, thank you Leap motion for the amazing delivery speed pre orders get
 
^^^ Yeah - that sucks. I've kind of resigned myself to the fact that I've paid for it and that's that. Maybe it turns out to be awesome. Maybe it sucks. But it's on it's way now so...at least it's been an interesting experience, and in all likelihood made us a little bit more savvy to the 'next big thing' to hit the internet.

That very first time they delayed - they should have delayed it for much longer - like a year or something. Taken their time and polished the product. I cannot for one second believe they're happy with how things are going at the moment: Devices not working, firmware updates killing the device, light affecting the unit etc. But hopefully they work their asses off and sort these problems out.

So who's pre-ordering a MYO then :p?
 
if i cant sort something out with fedex i might only get mine in a month, after using preorder updater it bugged making new order but left old order and now i cant change address.

"We are no longer accepting changes to your pre-order. Your order will be shipped with the information we have on hand based on the shipping information you previously entered.

If the shipping address is incorrect, once we receive the returned package, we will contact you for the correct address and submit a replacement."

i also pre-ordered a myo but i hope they can sort out everything better than leapmotion

Just received shipment confirmation eta. Monday 29/7. not charged , maybe i'l get it for free :)
 
Ok I've been charged R1010.....somewhat more than the $89 (inc shipping) @ that stage R694 when i ordered. The price you pay for being a gadget freak. Will probably go for around R800 retail is SA :mad:

Mine was Leap + shipping + about $15 taxes. The tax kills it. I agree though - probably not really worth it in the end and I reckon R800 retail sounds about right...if they can sort their software out and turn it into a product that actually warrants global retail.
 
ETA is now gone to 31/07. WHYYYYY???:mad:. Its says "FUTURE DELIVERY REQUESTED".

Same here. From Leap forums:
You don't need to worry. If you have a tracking #, your card was successfully charged. The "future delivery requested status now" issue seems to be a bug on FedEx side. It has no reflection on you and is not something we have requested. source

From reading through the thread at Leap it seems as though many people actually did receive it sooner than the 'FUTURE DELIVERY REQUESTED' date. *sigh*.
 
Thank you Fedex for allowing me to change my order address, now just have to wait for next month
 
All an all it's not that bad, i'm getting it a week after launch!!! My expectations were just raised by the ones getting it early. An analogy would be , me hearing the ice cream truck in the road and my dad saying i can only get one next week

Just been informed by fed -ex of a R324 additional charge, SA vat and clearance charges. So the leap Motion cost me R1334 !!!!! Double the R700 i anticipated when i pre-ordered :mad:

Did fedex email you an invoice or how did you find out about that?

If I do get charged extra Leap is getting an earful. That's exactly what we all paid for prior to our devices shipping: Leap + shipping + TAX. That's it. That's the amount agreed upon by both parties for the device to get from their warehouse into your hands...any additional charges violate the agreement (imo).

Then again - I'm not familiar with imports and duties...but then I want to know what that TAX/VAT charge on the invoice was for. dee4dog if I were you I'd wait a week for things to quieten down somewhat at Leap hq and then send them an email requesting a refund for that amount you've just paid.
 
if leap doesn't reduce price to buy a unit then we'll effectively be paying over R1.5k to order a leap, this is buying from leap so if someone imports it at near cost price which could be around R800 + import you're looking at R1.1k base + markup of 50% like most retailers in SA do R1.6k, I might be completely wrong but that's what i think it would retail for.

Subtotal
€ 61.99
Shipping
€ 20.99
Duties,
Taxes and Other Fees
€ 12.78
duties+taxes= R168 at current rates
