Learnt my darn lesson with domestic worker

I am using a cleaning service. Absolutely awesome. I wasn't happy with the first 3 ladies. It is not that they were bad, they just weren't great. They kept on sending a new one until I am happy. 4th lady who is now assigned on a weekly basis is awesome. If I am not satisfied with her work they will send me someone else. If I am away for a holiday, I don't get charged. If she is sick they send another lady. If I have an issue, I talk to the company and they must sort it out. Win-Win.
Out of Interest, if you don't mind me asking, what do you pay for this service?

If you suspect or even have proof of theft, you have to keep it under your hat and tell the domestic that you have lost your job and can’t afford to keep her. Cry if you must, be sad, tell her you’ll give her a months pay but you have to let her go even though you don’t want to.

Anything else is inviting trouble. I’ve also been there.

Agreed. Never start a confrontation before asking her to leave. Suck it up and then pretend you're very upset about having to let her go.

and here we have a problem of retaining our maid, first one who worked for us from june last year till march this year left because she was going to deliver a child. Next one left because we moved to a new house which was too big for her, next one come to work for 2 days and went MIA, next one dint like the fact that we checked her purse when she was leaving for the day , the next ones sister was shot after 2 days of work.
not only my family our relatives have the same problem here, we keep hunting for domestics. Honestly never heard from anyone I know here that their domestic was not ready to leave, it was always the other way around and we were asking them to come back but they switched off their phones.

Sorry to say, we worked very hard to rid ourselves of this major hassle. We have been domestic free for 8 years now. The difficult to prove shrinkage is gone, the inexplicable breakages and "disappearances" are a thing of the past. Now to get yourself unregistered on the UIF system. Anyone know how to get that right? Have not succeeded on that front for 8 years.

But I was told foreign domestic workers are better than local.
We are better at all things. Even "transfer of ownership" of possessions. It's because we are brought up correctly. Our parents told us "whatever you become, make sure you are the best at it"

How frequently did she work for you? I think for something like less than 3 days a week they aren't considered permanent, and you don't need a contract?
You need a contract even if its just 1 regular day say on the 2nd mon of every month.
And UIF must be paid if (s)he works more than 24 hrs in one month for you.

Just about everything a domestic does can be automated ..... Except for ironing

Sho, I want one of those automatic toilet and shower cleaners, not to mention the surface cleaners and vacuum thingies. And don’t say roomba and make us all lol.

But then it’s your home and we won’t judge.
Funny thing is I won't be surprised if government start banning home automation products. With the way domestic worker wages are going up and these home automation products becoming cheaper. Soon home automation going to be cheaper

Don't know about Roomba but I'd kill for one of those Miele ones. It takes itself back to the charging station to recharge before the battery runs out so your whole house can be done while you're out :love:

Always assuming we have power.
