LEaving for OZ

Putting in my papers soon. Went to a seminar last week in Midrand at Gallager (spelling?) and you should have seen the whites there. Thousands were applying on the spot.
Very sad.:(
Heard a similar story about an OZ Expo in Cape Town today.
Thousands of whites, queuing to apply. It looked like a mass evacuation :eek:

You have to wonder why these thousands of whites, queuing to apply, looking like a mass evacuation, never makes the news? ;)

I would've thought any newspaper would love to do a story on something like this.

I heard a story today that the world is going to end in 2012. No really, it's true... I read it in an email...

They do, like this example from last weeks paper:

Immigration applications to Australia and Britain are increasing as South Africans fear they face an uncertain future.

Headlines are dominated by power cuts, soaring electricity tariffs, increasing petrol prices, increasing interest rates and rampant crime.

The UK and Australia remain the most popular destinations for South African migrants, and figures from the high commissions for both countries confirm the numbers are on the increase.

Ed Bossley, the deputy director of visa services for the British High Commission, said they had had about 200 more applications this year than last.

But he stressed that the figures seen by the consulates were not an accurate reflection of the number of South Africans living in the UK, and could be much higher.

"South Africans enter the UK under various other categories of our immigration rules that can eventually lead to permanent settlement. These include a long-term work permit holder or a highly skilled migrant," explained Bossley.

South Africans who fell into these categories and who were already in the UK would lodge their applications with the Home Office there and so the South African consulates would not have these figures.

In addition, many South Africans had the right to live in Britain because of ancestry, and did not need to apply to go there.

Permanent residence applications were typically lodged by those seeking to join relatives or spouses in the UK.

Assessing these, the high commission needed to be satisfied that the relationship was genuine and that the sponsor in the UK could afford to "financially support and accommodate their relative in the UK without any recourse to public funds".

The South African department of Home Affairs has not published emigration statistics since 2003, but research agencies have used other resources for their own estimates.

The South African Institute of Race Relations released a shocking report claiming that skilled white men were flocking to the United Kingdom.

The institute used Statistics South Africa's mid-year population estimates, which they garnered from the national census, comparing figures for 1995 and 2005.

The institute said about 800 000 white South Africans had left the country, mainly economically active white men between 25 and 35.

The Australian High Commission said emigration application figures were higher last year than in 2006. More than 5 000 South Africans applied to emigrate to Australia between 2006 and last year.

On the other hand, the Homecoming Revolution, the organisation encouraging South African expats to come home, said more South Africans were inquiring about returning - as many as 10 inquiries in a week.

The organisation's director, Martine Schaffer, said in other countries migrants often faced many of the same problems they would encounter in South Africa. Source: IOL

They do, like this example from last weeks paper:

"Increased" and "200 more a year". Those are nowhere close to the thousands of people mentioned before, especially on a single day. They didn't mention any increases to NZ, although a lot of people applied. And it was quite funny to read about all the people who wants to come back, lol.

lol who had the bright idea of setting up this campaign, I'm amazed it's still going.

LOL, 10 inquiries a week? That is like just 520 inquiries a year. And those are just inquiries. How will that address the 800 000 white South Africans that have already left? :D

Increased means more leaving :D 200 more means that is ALL of 2007 + 200 = TOTAL just for the British High Commission alone...Seems only you and you alone know how many that would translate to at an expo :D

Good for you!

I will stick it out.

I wish you luck in your endevour.

I hope you will come back once we have managed to put a stop to the ethnic cleansing taking place.

We will need people with skills to rebuild this country after the civil war.

By going you stand a good chance of surviving.
Most of us won't.

You gotta be ****tin' me!! Are you aware that people of ALL COLOURS AND ALL ETHNIC GROUPS ARE BEING SLAUGHTERED LIKE ANIMALS?

The only people who think that ethinic cleansing is taking place, are those ones who read the Rapport newspaper. Rapport clearly thinks only white people are victims of crime. They almost never report on black people being the victims of crime. WTF?

Really? So where are all those people that demonstarted against the white gvt? They are all still voting for the ANC so please go spin that rubbish somewhere else. If things were so bad for the masses then there would be a regime change.
If you do not vote these bastards out then you are just as guilty as they are.

'Crime victims should leave SA'

Pretoria - On Saturday they attended an emigration expo. On Monday Margot Ludik, 35, was raped by armed robbers. Her six-year-old son lay next to her on the bed while it happened.

All she could do, was to tell him, "Be quiet. Pretend to be sleeping".

During the ordeal her husband Andries, a lawyer who represents celebrities like Leon Schuster, Sonette Bridges and Louis van Wyk, and their five-year-old daughter were tied up in the bathroom of their house on a luxury estate in Kameelfontein, Pretoria.

"We want to be out of the country by the end of the month," says a determined Andries.

He has already started handing over his cases to colleagues. They are moving to Australia and the immigration agency is rushing their application.

Meanwhile, they have not yet gone back to the house.

"I have only one piece of advice for victims of crime in this country: pack up and leave as quickly as possible".

Margot could not stop crying this past week as she recalled that terrible night.

After robbers split up the family - father and daughter in the bathroom, son and mother on the bed - she thought they wouldn't hurt her. But then one of the robbers came back.

"He put his hand on my legs and said I had to open up. I couldn't, because my legs were tied. Then he climbed on me in any case."

"Fortunately, it was all over quickly".

The robbers woke them up around midnight. They asked for money and weapons. They said they were going to kill the Ludiks and hurt the children.

"Every minute it felt like a bullet was going to hit me now," said Andries.

The robbers were in their house for over two hours. Andries managed to wriggle free.

"I have to get to a hospital. I was raped," Margot then told him.

A psychologist claimed their son did not know his mother had been raped. The Ludiks' neighbours had been robbed in their home in December.

Come on ostrich clan, convince this family to stay.

And just who would we vote for, pray tell?

The perception the general public has of the DA is that they will bring back a lot of the pre-1994 practices, so people will not vote for them. That is not what I say, that is general perception.

So please tell us what the alternative is ..........

Unfortunaltley the majority of the public in SA is similar to that of ZIm. They'll never vote for anyone else except Mad Bob/ANC. Or, only after many years of completly fuucking up the country they will wake up and think, OMG, its not going to well here, is it.

Better vote for someone else.

Like now, i must get my act together as its such a beautiful day outside i think it calls for a lush picnic in the amazing park across the road.

Been like that most of this year. God i love global warming

Ha ha I'm sure this was lion_fish telling us how lovely the weather in the UK is at the moment earlier in this thread. I thought there was only one UK but t iappears their may be two... I know he said he was not in London but don't tell me this weather is so localised so as to not affect the rest of England!!

Yeah check the dirt and chaos and all the criminlas. :)

Well difficult to see with all the snow... but have to admit to not being too happy about walking around London barefoot as I do all the time here, and then we will also not even mention the black snot you blow from your nose at the end of a day in London.

marine1, can you please give it a rest. We all know that you like to rant on about crime (it's your right to do so but sometimes I get the feeling that you do it just for the sake of doing it).

Am I alone here or does anyone else get the same feeling?
