They can be ordered from Wootware and Laptopdirect as far as I have seen. The second part can be answered by using google.

Hi , why I ask if you have the maxwell or kepler is because the lenovo is sold in both variants. I emailed laptop direct and they weren't sure. Would it be possible if you would be able to run the app GPU-Z and provide a screen shot please. Thanx so much

Hi would you be able to tell me whether the model we are getting in SA has the NVIDIA GTX 860m , Maxwell (gm107) or Kepler (GK104) please!!! This can be checked with the app GPU-Z.
 
the sa price is quite competitive I just order the UHD version from Japan came to about R14400 with a external bluray drive only difference is the processor is the 4710HQ(same as the 4700MQ),and the 4K IPS screen, bluray drive instead of a DVD drive.....

How's the warranty on that baby going to work? And please give a review once you used it for a while!

well this laptop is made in Japan(not china) via nec but fortunately the y5070 are covered by global warranty so if its like the y510 once its officially released by lenovo SA you'll be covered, i'll definitely do a mini review with photoshop/renderomg revit/cad and some gaming

Well SA seems to be selling the 4 gig model! Hoorah! Thanks for that info! I'm planning to buy the y50, but ideally I would want the 4k model since the TN display is plagued with a poor display. .. but Idon't think it's for sale in SA yet. Did you order yours online from Japan? Will I be able to do buy from Japan too, ~15k is very good price you got! I estimate the equivalent model would cost at least R18k here

Yeah, it is the other way around. 2GB is Maxwell, 4GB is Kepler.

I've been looking at review, after review of this. Notebookcheck

It's known as the Y50 in the US, the successor to the Y510p. Screen is not so great, and I am not happy with the the storage options - I'd personally like an extra SATA, m.2 or mSATA slot (which there isn't). I can't imagine booting from a spinner again...

Unfortunately (or fortunately), there is nothing at this price point with a GTX860M!! The next best thing is a MSI GS60 Ghost 2PE, which retails for R23k+ evetech MSI GS60.

That being said, most places are getting stock of the Y5070 in early August. You know Technovision? (R12.9k)


[EDIT: There is the Gigabyte P34G 14" ~ R15k, lighter and smaller if that's your thing. I can't seem to find the updated GTX860M - BAH!]

Would you choose to get msi gx series or lenovo y50. I'm choosing between the two but have a hard time thinking about it. I want to program on it therefore requires best quality screen + gaming

Is technovision a legitimate online store? They seem to have the best prices around!??
