Calling all Sci-Fi fans here...

The Tom Cruise series is looking very good, first we had War of the world's which was brilliant, then Oblivion which was a thousand times better and now we just had Edge of tomorrow... One word... AMAZING (Easly movie of the year in my books, Don't believe we'll see anything as good as that again anytime soon )... i loved its originality and can't wait to see its sequel (number 2) or the next Tom Cruise Sci-Fi.

Guardians of the Galaxy was brilliant.

Really looking forward to Automata:

Kinda looks like a sequel to iRobot played by Will Smith, but hey, I'm sure not complaining, iRobot was fantastic and I'd really like to see where Automata goes with the story. Here's the trailer to wet your appetite: www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHC4WmxaWuY

Maze runner also looks very promising, I know I know, it's more of a Thriller, but still.

Please post your favorite Sci-Fi's and recommendations, I'm trying to add to my watch list.

Transendance is another great one for me, Originality, plot construction and execution are top notch. (that makes or breaks a movie for me) Definitely Recommended.

Prometheus 2 is due out in a year or two's time i hear Alex Jones say.

Originality?
Oh dear...
Maybe I'm showing my age here, but I saw this when I was a kid.

"Lawnmower Man"

"Virtual Reality" was all the rage back then.

There's a reason why Transcendence tanked so badly, it wasn't original AT ALL. Not even Johnny Depp's star power could save it.

Haven't even heard of lawn mower man, is it any good? Do you recommend watching it?

War of the worlds & Oblivion were mediocre at best...

What do you think about Edge of tomorrow?

Come on, at least list your top Sci-Fi's, let us here them :)

I'm discovering new movies with this thread that I've never heard of, that I'm adding to my IMDB watch list.

Oblivion was way too similar of the movie "Moon" (2009)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1182345/?ref_=nv_sr_4

All the mainstreams tend to mediocre imo.

Some great movies that I would recommend
- Code 46
- Gattaca
- Source code

And the best for last
Space balls :D

I watched this movie about 15 years ago, I remember it being very interesting:
13th Floor - kindof a virtual world setting
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0139809/

I looked Code 46 up on IMDB, by its description it looks like Twilight. But please tell me more about it. I always like to add more to my watch list.

Also made the comment recently that Tom Cruise SciFi movies are pretty top notch.

I enjoyed Oblivion.

Nothing like twilight...I really enjoyed it.

Best description of the movie:
Code 46 is a love story set in a Brave New World-type near-future where cities are heavily controlled and only accessible through checkpoints. People cannot travel unless they have "papeles", a special travel permit issued by the totalitarian government, the "Sphinx". Outside these cities, the desert has taken over and shanty towns are jammed with non-citizens - people without IDs forced to live primitive lives. William is a family man who works as a government investigator. When he is sent to Shanghai to solve a case of fake IDs, he meets a woman named Maria. Although he realizes she is behind the forgeries, he cannot help but fall completely in love with her. He hides her crime and they have a wild, passionate affair that can only last as long as his visa: 24 hours.

But theres some really nice touches to it like, Tim Robbins drinks an empathy drug to help him read peoples minds.

My favourite quote of the movie:
Maria: You have a kid?
William: Yeah?
Maria: Chico or chica?
William: Chico.
Maria: I bet he's special.
William: He *is* special.
Maria: Everybody's children are so special. It makes you wonder where all the ordinary grown-ups come from.

I would recommend Dark City, Blade Runner and Twelve Monkeys.

Don't believe the reviews about Dark City, it was a very good movie.
