Enjoyed the sets and effects of Prometheus -stupid actions by characters not so much.
Tremors is awesome!
Apparently you have to watch the Director's cut as the normal cut spoils the plot in the first 10 minutes -only ever saw it on DVD saw that is the only cut I saw - awesome movie.
Also highly recommend Gattaca.

Hunger games is fantasy. not sci fi.
Even Star Wars could be classified as fantasy as there's zero focus on science. Star Trek completely opposite though.

There is something about War of the Worlds that I just love. That part when the horns start and he is running around his back yard freaks me out for some reason. I've watched the movie about 4 times already.
Others that are all time all time favourites.
The Alien movies, Twelve Monkeys, Blade Runner and The Thing (1982).

The Thing is superb. Apparently the guys in the Antarctic research station have a tradition of watching it after the last plane leaves as winter sets in.
Skyline and Battleship? - I respectfully disagree, those movies where awful.
Both of those are 'leave your brain at the door' movies.
Although in Battleship when they start cranking out Thunderstruck by AC/DC while starting up the old ship....that made up for a lot
