Ok, so I got my HAF-X chassis and it's as quiet as Vodacom on the topic of Cheaper 3G Prices......
that's If I hold my CPU fan still with my finger - as soon as that thing starts It defeats the purpose of my quiet chassis

So what coolers have great cooling but are pretty quiet at the same time? Anything good you guys can reccomend?

No specific budget or timeframe here, just looking around until something catches my attention :D

Corsair H50 , H50-1, or my favourite: A really big Thermalright cooler with a super slow 14cm fan attached to it. (Ultra 120 true copper or something)
The only problem is that they're super heavy, so maybe rather go for the Corsair..

I used a Zalman 9700CNPS for four years, it has a speed controller, which I left on lowest for the entire time. You wouldn't hear that at all over the HAF, but the Thermalright + big slow fan will be even cooler.

Cogage True Spirit always gets a good mention. Will perform the same as a CM V8 or a Thermaltake Frio. So basically you end up paying for the looks with the latter 2.

I have a zalman 9500 (my pc is old) and it's also turned down to the lowest setting. Stays cool.

If you have a Socket 1366 CPU, then the Cogage True Spirit would be the cheapest cooler and it performs the same as the TRUE (ThermalRight Ultra 120 Extreme) which costs considerably more and doesn't come with fans either.

I have the TRUE CPU cooler with a CoolerMaster Sickleflow 120mm fan, however I have to run the Sickleflow fan at 7V, otherwise it's too noisy - they overrated the fan in their specs.

Currently the Two Best air Coolers on the market:

Thermalright Silver Arrow
Noctua NH-14

if you want quiter try hook up and h70 or something

CoolerMaster V8.

Mine is on full tilt permanently, inside a CM Scout box, can't hear it. And the cpu is super cool.

Oh, and it had a splash of red LED inside, so it looks great in the scout box...depending on what colour scheme you have.

Its around R600.

what the hell is this Corsair H50 thing?

ah, i see it's liquid cooled - so what do you need for that, the radiator and reservoir and all the scuba tank type equipment, or is it all included in a easy to install kit?

its an all-in-one solution (closed circuit so you cant fiddle with the water levels, pipes, etc etc)

its not for enthusiasts... but its really good value for money and keeps things chilly!!

I highly recommend it :D

oh and if you go with this, get two 120mm fans so you can push/pull. knocked off a good couple of degrees on my load temp compared to a single fan

It's a standalone all-in-one kit, so pretty (ahem) cool actually

The H50 is an all in one part which has a pump, rad and CPU block included. No need to buy anything else.
