Let's talk PC gaming peripherals

Mchose is a pretty premium brand. Ridiculous value.

I didn't realise that. I had never heard of them before. I am very impressed with them for R700. They're significantly better than my previous Logitech that I paid over R1.5k for well over 5 years ago.. I didn't get a choice of colour. I imagine they were old stock being cleared, but I'd buy them again in a heartbeat.

Nice, it has the same sensor as my VXE R1 Pro Max. Not bad at its price point and you get a charging station. I want to buy my kid new peripherals, and am currently looking at the Attack Shark range... I don't want to spend too much, but I want to get him a good, budget, keyboard.

How is their ecosystem? Like is it all over the place or do they have something centralised. Brands like AJAZZ (which would include Attack Shark), Redragon, and AULA are anything but centralised, and sometimes it slides into malware valley. This is why I like Mchose, ATK/VXE, etc.

Then you have brands like Razer that auto-installs... Like some LG monitors...

To be honest, I got the mouse, installed the software on my work laptop, set the DPI and the colour of the tiny LED and have not touched it since. I don't even recall what the software is called. I now only use the mouse on my desktop PC at home and the settings stick on the mouse so unless something goes wrong I don't touch it.

It's not the grandest from what I recall but it served its purpose.

Yeah typing on their keyboard as is. As I mentioned before, I've had to charge it once since I got it in August.

Got the 8bitdo controller from amazon when everyone was punting how amazing it is, but I think I've used it for CatQuest1-3 and to carefully walk over bridges / tight areas in No Rest for the Wicked where analog > digital.

Other than that I just feel useless with a controller. Been PC gaming since the XT's.

Got the 8bitdo controller from amazon when everyone was punting how amazing it is, but I think I've used it for CatQuest1-3 and to carefully walk over bridges / tight areas in No Rest for the Wicked where analog > digital.

Other than that I just feel useless with a controller. Been PC gaming since the XT's.

I said the same, well, I only used it in two gaming genres, then I tried playing third-person games and it was a good experience. Couldn't do FPS... maybe it is because I don't use aim assist... but then one day I decided to give it a go in Aimlabs and now I am pretty good. It is very niche though, and I can understand why players would want to use it in a game like CoD. It would never work in a shooter like CS or Quake (but then I saw "pros" use it in Quake)... Heh...

I would sit back and play a game like Dave the Diver. Even Terraria rocks with a game controller. That said I started with GameSir many moons ago with a G4s. Now I have a stack, also 8BitDo controllers.

So, I ordered my kid an Attack Shark X85 Pro. Attack Shark did advertise some lies. The keyboard does not support QMK/VIA. It is their own driver web wrapper that they are calling QMK... Whoo... That doesn't matter, though I would have appreciated VIA support and I did expect it to be the case since this microcontroller is widely adopted by all these Chinese OEMs, ODMs, etc.

I saw no point at getting the AJAZZ K820 Pro over the K85 Pro. Sure, the K820 Pro sounds better and may or may not have a better switch pending on your colour decision. The parralel imports here either have the one switch or the other; all the K85 Pro's have the Blueberry switch which is okay. For the 800-odd Rand I am not complaining.

I will compare it to the AULA S75 Pro which I know will be the better keyboard though a little bit older. There is about R200 between them, or at least what I paid.

So, the AJAZZ K820 Pro vs X85 Pro, they look the same, but don't quack the same. The X85 Pro weighs more or less 200 grams more. There is something more inside their chassis. Obviously the drivers aren't the same. Will see when it comes.

depends on the game for me prefer KB+M but controller on 3rd person games makes sense on the TV but on the monitor since im a lot closer the only game i prefer controller is Pragmata for that hacker combos it just a bit of a issue with my mouse.

ive only heard praise on 8bitdo to be honest never tried one (not yet anyway) still using my PsOne and PS2 controllers with a xb adapter for my retro roms.

I had to replace my keyboard a while ago. I liked the Redragon keyboards since they are very easily moddeable, and their chassis are okay. The problem, however, is their OUTEMU switch doesn't seem to last under heavy use. It could do with some pre-lubing.

So I was looking at replacing my daily K599 (Deimos) with something new. I can't remember the name, but the Keychron I was looking at costed around R3 000, and that was a bit above my price class. Then I was told to look at Mchose, but those I was interested in were all HE. HE is not a typist keyboard, and that was until I tried their keyboards with the Mount Tai Magnetic switches. Got an Ace 68 GT at R 2 500 and haven't looked back since, then I picked up a G89V2 (UT98) on Takealot at R 1 000 and have been blown away by it. For someone else in my household I got an Ace 68 Super, and it is not bad though almost the same as the Ace 68 GT. I have had the privilege to type on some expensive keyboards, but I don't know how Mchose is getting that right at their price points. The parallel importers are now dumping them here too... I don't know whether that is a good or bad thing.

I am done with buying keyboards. It hurts buying new things nowadays. Anyone who needs a HE gaming keyboard, look at the Mchose Ace 68 Air with Mount Tai Magnetic switches. The value in that keyboard must be bonkers.

QMK/VIA is cool, I wish more keyboard makers would support it. For the brands who have a centralised suite, that is okay too.

All that said, I don't think that all these things will remain as 'accessible' as is, some Chinese brands like ATK/VXE are already increasing their pricing. Not by a lot, but enough to think again about buying something that is basically a copy.

ja when i was using my K6 pro which iv revereted back to the Q6 (need numpad) ive had to modify the keymaps via QMK very handy especialyl since that keyboard doesnt have a del key so had to make Fn2 + Backspace = Del.

but yeah the market is crazy with options all spread out. HE seems to be the new kid on the block but id have to sell of mine to justify buying another keyboard.
