Sasha said some clown F1 supporter's organisation in London phoned him and told him as well. Somebody here is a monkey.... Sasha being one of them. This is just not on.
I sent a note to 5fm telling them to grow up....

You should send one to supersport too since they reckon he is a "F1 Guru". I think they may change their minds about that once they hear about this.

I know killa, I agree 100%. These guys are paid to do that like it or not... they prolly have a contract clause that stipulates they have to sing the british drivers and teams praises. It's not unusual, just a pity there is no choice with monochoice... sometimes it's nicer to hear the dutch commentary even if you don't understand it all lol. ESPN does soccer, wonder why they don't have F1...
 
Damn, some of you are really pedantic about your F1. Sasha is a great guy who knows a bucket load more than your average joe about F1. He also has the contacts and experience in both television and radio and is a well known personality. Who would you have preferred to present the show? Jackie Stewart?

I have heard Hugh "High" Bladen and numerous sports tv personalities cock up more than Sasha does.

WRT to the news, 5FM receives its news from an outside source, they do not have internal journalists apart from music and entertainment. If a story is incorrect, most other stations would be running the same incorrect story.

That might be, but he can't even get his basic googling skills to work. He has thus proved himself a disgrace.
 
DJStealth : Sasha is a good radio DJ, but he should stop trying to do the F1 thing, because he gets ALOT of stuff wrong.. I think in any given broadcast of F1 stuff on tv about 50% of the stuff he utters is wrong... If anything Supersport should just get the full ITV stream and do away with the local guys.. ITV would have better presenters too.

Making a mistake in a broadcast is very different to hearing from somebody that one of the top F1 drivers got fired, not taking the time verifying if the story is correct, and blurting it out all over the national airwaves.

Actually I heard it live on radio and knew it was a joke. I think he saw a google alert come through and began talking about it, then had to think on his feet when he realised it was a mistake. Hence the kark joke!

I couldnt stand the UK broadcast either when I was there - very biased and the entire show is a dedication to British drivers. Annoyed the carp out of me. Remember too, that the facts and figures that Sasha uses come from a research department, not just from him - he may be the front-man who takes the flak, but mistakes are not his alone. In fact I have witnessed him correcting written stats that he received with accuracy.

OK, maybe I am a little biased and therefore defensive of the guy, but I still reckon he does a better job than anyone else I can think of to do the show.
 
You know, if someone told me LH was fired, I would not even google it... I would wait until the evening news and even then not expect to see it... stranger things have happened, sure, but seriously... to blurt it out publically without so much as a small investigation shows some serious bias or lack of judgement...

in short the man is a ferrari fanbooi :p
