Found out what was draining my battery, in settings -> general -> about phone:

At the bottom of it there is "activity logs"
I must have agreed to LG tracking my activity during my setup screen.

I unticked that option and the battery life and charging times got much better.

Just reading all these msgs yesterday and went home last night and dug deep in my cupboards to check my box. Got a 601 serial. Thank god.

I bought mine second hand and have no pop. Got it from gumtree and dont remember/have the guys phone number. Stuck with a bootlooped G4 and nothing I can really do about it

Sigh, this just happened to me this morning. Looks like it's stuffed.

What qualifies as "proof of purchase"? I doubt I have a till slip still laying about anywhere, probably have the original box though.
They use the serial number to check if it's on their system, never needed pop to access warranty before, even if a phone was bought 2hnd. What network is the phone branded with(boot logo and bloatware), just take the phone back to a repair center of whichever network originally supplied it.

If you go to a branch with no repair facilities they may ask for the pop if they don't have the facilities to check the phones warranty status via serial, repair centers will.

I got my LG G4 yesterday, was waiting for the G5 to come out so that the G4 price can drop and I could upgrade from my G2. Was worth it. R299/pm from Vodacom

Good price :) mine is one of that susceptible serials :( I've bought mine from Takealot and it has a small sent in it corner as long as they don't ever use that as a dispute.

This has been quite tempting for me... But it means I lose my Afrihost contract at R99 per month :(

Probably the only reason I haven't signed up for this... I'm a little concerned about the boot loop issues so won't buy a used one unless I get an excellent deal

You can also get a reprint from the shop you bought it at...

i'm thinking now... can't remember that vodacom asked me for any kind of proof of purchase when i took mine in for repairs... :wtf: very strange
Vodacom are have this new fangled thing called a database

Vodacom usually doesn't ask for proof of purchase.

Cell C didn't ask me when I used them once way back with a BlackBerry 9790.

MTN is very fussy with that... They won't book a phone in without it. What you can do is go to an advanced repair center and they might reprint the slip for you. They did that when I had an issue with an Xperia Z I bought secondhand.
Years ago MTN booked my sisters phone in without, then they refused to give it back. Never got it back.

Bought some cables off HD cabling, they charge everything no issues and cost about R34 each at the time.

it's actually amazing how many of these cables differ in resistance - I have some that charge at 0.42A max and others that can charge at 1.52A
I got some from China, they are low resistance, very flexible and the plugs can be inserted either way up
