It kept giving me the App Update error when I tried to use certain apps. Became too annoying so I went back to an older firmware. But as long as you have May security update you're basically up to date.

I went to Vodacom yesterday and literally every Vodacom branch is out of stock and they said that the G4 is discontinued. I was going to get the R299p.m contract. Any suitable replacements?

Perhaps try a different store. Maybe that one just didn't get stock or ran out.
In my experience, of the people working at cellphone stores don't know much about phones and just try to wing it with answers to questions.
Hardies bru. It's off to the repair centre for you.Wow got a whatsapp on my G4. Opened it and it froze for like 20 seconds then restarted and now it's stuck in a bootloop can't get past the LG logo no matter what I try. Can't even go into recovery....
