let's hope so - my G4 is in that serial number grouping, but I've had no hassles and have another years warranty left, but with my luck, it'll loop one day after it expires :(

wish there was a type of stress test I could put the phone through....
 
Mine did the bootloop thing today!

One minute it's running - and I'm downloading pictures onto my pc, the next the pc gives the 'disconnected USB' noise, and the phone is showing the LG logo!!

Seems they quit with no warning at all :(

Any advice on what I should do now?

Return it to the store where I got it or head for one of the LG agencies?

My model is in the middle of the 'doomed to fail' serial number range - starts 506xxxxxxxxxx

LG agencies or Smart Lab in Montague Gardens. They will have you up and running again by Wednesday or Thursday

Took Cigik (my brother's) phone into Smartlab Montagu Gardens this morning. Very helpful, didn't ask for warranty card but did want proof of purchase, which was tucked in with the phone in a packet for the repair man.
They didn't look surprised at all when I said bootloop, but may have checked with LG online as the phone was registered from the day my brother received it and he had let them (and Smartlab) know that I was coming with the phone.
Phone condition 3/5. (average?)
I received an SMS and an email while I was still at Smartlab andthe lady on duty handed me a bar-coded card, which I'm sure is my proof that they have phone, and their proof that I can collect it.

Yes everyones are 3/5 but you should have your phone back before end of the week
 
Another one bit the dust after exactly a year of use, resturned to canal walk store, was still waiting. Called HVRC and a replacement was sent to store for collection. i asked if its a new or refurbished handset and he said that a refurbished phone was sent.
 
What's up with them requesting proof of purchase, I've never needed that in the past with Nokia/Samsung/BB?

I bought mine brand new secondhand, sealed box and a prepaid phone but "secondhand", ie bought it from an online classifieds and getting the pop will be a proper pita or neigh impossible.

That's precisely why I've avoided the G4 since I found out about the issue it's got. I'm not even prepared to risk it with the newer ones without the issue just in case...

It's a pity because I love the look of the phone and have had the G2 and the G3, loving them both...
 
Was thinking of selling it but now that I have it back I've realised just how great of a phone it is:)

If you look at the file sizes between the stock camera and LR, LR always has bigger filesizes and more detail in the picture. I don't how this is possible but that's what others on XDA and myself have found in testing.
 
Also the stock Raw is hideous, I'm hoping the Lr app shoots raw and sorts out the shortcoming of the native app in that regard?

Here is the XDA thread. The OP posted comparison shots. First one has nearly double the filesize of the stock camera photo.
