Just got the LG G4 back, they replaced the motherboard. It is much faster now, so was beginning to fail before the bootloop happened.

I have a feeling the Fiance's phone is going to hit bootloop/ or some other hardware crash soon.

we both sit at home next to each other on the couch, both on wifi, in pokemon go busy comparing the day's catches.

her wifi will disconnect but mine will be fine.
then her phone has to be rebooted to get anything working again.

she is going to be SUPER unhappy when it gives up the ghost.

If the serial number printed on the box starts with 506... Then take it in.

any G4 with a manufacture date of September 2015 or after is supposed to have already received the fix. The easiest way to tell is to look at the serial number. If your serial number begins in "509", "510", or higher than your g4 has the fix. If your serial number begins in "504", "505", "506", "507", then your g4 does not have it and could potentially stop functioning. Those with a "508" could have had the fix applied but also may not have depending on the region and carrier.

This was helpfully posted by Bundu earlier in the thread.

Wow to be honest my G4 has not been this good since I got it. Whole day of very mild usage and battery is @ 86%

Before my battery should drain after just 5 hours of screen off time. In fact the battery usage was more with the screen off than on. The quick charge was also not working and the device should get so hot I can't hold it even after I completely wiped it.

I should charge it 2 or 3 times a day before it froze and went into a bootloop.

Now this battery lasts longer than my S5...

Same this side, Smartlab replaced the motherboard, camera and receiver under warranty. This "new" G4 is also way faster, and the indicator light on the front works again.
I also had to charge twice a day before the bootloop, phone also was getting hot.
Let that be a warning to you.
Oh, I should also mention that Smartlab notified LG of the changed IMEI, so I don't have to worry about that detail either.

Ok, sorry for the silly question, but I just want to make sure:

My phone keeps rebooting randomly while I'm using it. I can't keep it working for more than 3 hours without it rebooting, which it does 2 or 3 times before acting normal again. Is this the bootloop problem or am I dealing with something else entirely?

And if it is the bootloop problem, how much do Smartlab charge?

what's your serial number?

505. Bought last year August. Rebooting issue since 2 months ago. Over the weeks the time it lasts without rebooting keep getting shorter

sounds like bootloop - got a warranty? take it in for free repairs

Definitely bootloop. Do what I did. Register your Imei with LG online first. Then email them to notify of bootloop. Once registered, go to Smartlab. That way Smartlab can give LG your new Imei easy as you're registered already. Also, first thing Smartlab looked for is proof of purchase.

Thanks, will do that. Before I decided to come here, I first sent it to MTN (contract). Today got an SMS for 3000 rand to repair. :wtf:
That's why I was wondering if mine wasn't maybe the bootloop issue

Do you have a link where to do this please?
I've tried to sign up on lg sa website and am unable to.

I did it yesterday, first register an account, then register the phone, then start the repair troubleshooter. I was on Firefox.

Well my new G4 I got from LG to December last year as a replacement for my previous G4 that went into boot loop also started with the boot loop tonight. So I am wondering now what? Took it into CellC last time and two weeks later LG replaced it with a new one. Which is nice and all. But it is becoming slightly annoying now. Is it wishful thinking to hope that they will replace it with something else than G4 that won't break again?
