LG G4

Oh yeah I forgot to report back on the 32GB Extreme Plus card.

So previously my 16GB Sandisk Ultra Class-10 was getting:
Read: 31.44MB/s
Write:6.75MB/s

And the new 32GB Sandisk Extreme Plus Class-10 UHS-3 card gets:
Read: 39.21MB/s
Write: 31.91MB/s

So huge improvement in write and under 10 for read although all waaaay under the Up to 90/90 speed advertised (which is normal, but still disappointing). But the phone feels smoother, like quite a bit smoother. Also for some strange reason some of my games run smoother on the SD card now than they do on the phone despite the phone memory still being many magnitudes faster 0_o.

Though this is a Sony Z3 we are talking about, not the G4, so your experience may differ.

What;s the difference between the cards in Red and Yellow?

Bah, missed this Q.
The yellow one would either be a second partition on your current SD card or it might sometimes be the fake external storage actually located on the phone's internal memory (Something with can be eternally grateful to the retard ICS for that decided SD cards no longer exist)

Root apps and reverse tethering. That's just it.

Incidentally what are or were you using to reverse tether? I haven't wanted to do this for ages but suddenly the urge is there (thanks Spiderman Unlimited)
Annoyingly it seems this is another feature that has been ripped out of Android during it's retarded 2 steps forward 1 step back development cycle. My Sony neo still had that feature (running gingerbread).

Hi there Gents

I have recently experienced a failure on my LG G4's wifi, basically about two weeks ago I noticed that the wifi was not on as it should have been so I swiped down from the top of the screen to see the little round toggle for WIFI was not on, tried to switch it on and thats where my issues began. The toggle started to pulsate on and off repeatedly (see video) and the WIFI would just not activate no matter what.

So a bit of panic set in, my brand new phone has failed for some reason and I am not sure what to do. So I took to Google and probably sat for over 6hours researching the problem without much resolve. I did mamage to find a handful of people in the states that experienced the issue but LG there simply opted to collect and replace their phones with no actual resolution put forward. So I tried to factory reset my device, lost everything and had a factory phone but still the wifi pulsated without activating, FAIL.
So I decided to take to twitter because I didnt want to risk taking the phone to Vodacom (in the past I have had them cause more faults to phones than what they were taken in for) and managed to get hold of LG South Africa's call centre. They directed me to a company called DSN Mobile located in Crescent mall, Umhlanga, and I immediately took the phone in for repairs. So this is where my phone has been for almost two weeks, they cannot seem to actually tell me what is wrong with the device only to say that they are trying to fix it and will get back to me. Now I have taken to Facebook and Hellopeter as I dont want a brand new phone that has failed within a month of taking up ownership especially since I have managed to find a video yesterday of someone else that is also sitting with the same issue but managed to video it, unlike me who sent my phone in before I managed to. Nevertheless I reposted the video in english and I am trying to research and find how many people this issue is affecting. I personally thing it is a software flaw and it is a potential flaw on each and every G4 out there, It would be so wonderful if LG would acknowledge the problem and actually do something to address it rather than blow off their customers.

The video I found and reposted is: https://youtu.be/4W8YJMDFM88

This is worrying.

Very worrying, I have absolutely loved this phone from day 1, yesterday I even received my wireless charging mat and wireless inner for my back cover and no phone to use them on. And LG's stance on the whole issue is less that appealing. The big issue was when I took it to DSN they were on and on about charging me this or that, and I made it very clear to them that I was sent to them by LG and the phone is new and under warranty. So they told me they have to do some diagnostic test on the phone, it takes 52hours straight to diagnose the phone, I dont know what software they are using or what they are running but it seems dodge to me, Nevertheless that should have been around 3 days maximum to diagnose, I phoned them a week later and they firstly had no clue who I was or what phone I had handed in, only after giving the job number the lady was like ja oh that phone, well we are still testing but we will get back to you tomorrow with an answer...... 3 days later still waiting for the phone call, so that is when I took to Facebook to voice my concerns to LG Mobile SA only to get a generic respone:

"Hi Tyson, Thank you for inboxing us and for sharing your experiencing. We do constantly strive to produce a quality product which fulfills the needs of our consumers. We have flagged your complaint and have requested an LG agent to get in touch with you to help you through this negative experience."

BTW I am still waiting for this "AGENT" to phone me 2 days later.

damn, that's pathetic service

Reminds of when I contacted Siemens (back when they were still in the PC business) to find a local center that could install some parts for me whilst keeping the warranty intact. They gave me a place in Umhlanga and I took the system there. And had to take it back 4 times to fix primary-school-level mistakes they'd made whereas I could have done it myself perfectly the first time (but I would have lost the warranty).

Anyways the point I'm trying to make is that unfortunately affiliated does not always mean competent. Especially in this country.

This happened to my sister's Samsung Galaxy S4 also since 2 weeks back. The bluetooth will also not switch on

Edit: she said this happened just after her play store apps updated. After that, no more wifi and bluetooth

Guys I am looking to get a G4 and just wanted to know regarding root and roms for it. What Model is the SA version? Is there a lot of development for this model and what are the good roms?

Thanks

I am a compulsive rooter. I have rooted every phone before this one. every tab.

I have no need to root the G4. yet at least.
if you want reverse tethering that is about the only thing you will gain.
there is very little bloatware.
I honestly dont see a point in rooting. and I am not the anti rooting guy trust me on this.
there is nothing you cant access.

if you really need titanium backup or a snapshot at given times MAYBE then, but still, its not needed. IMHO but there has been at least one person who has rooted the phone here, check around page 30ish for his comments on it
