LG G4

How do I get my phone to keep silent at night? I've just been putting it on flight mode but surely there's an easier way?

My G3 has a setting to keep the phone quiet between certain times (automatically).

I'm sure that the G4 has that too.

Just use the drop down to change to no interruptions...

If you need the alarm change to priority only.

Doubt that. 12v is standard.

Hmm, I guess it's pointless trying different cables then. Perhaps we should just get that new 3.4 amp Samsung car charger from Takealot then just to make doubly sure the phone will be getting the full 2 amps.

Tried a different car?

I probably should hey. But should that be the problem the required R350K to replace seems a bit steep so I'd rather choose the R350 replacement and hope that's the end of it.

Besides we need a second charger (so my dad also has one) this way or that so replacing it makes sense.

Some cables are not able to supply the full current that the charger can provide, ie only 0.5a when 2a is available, try the combination in another car first if you think it's the cars cigarette lighter that's fried, doubt it though but you never know.

Surely the official OEMs would supply their chargers with cables capable of fully utilizing them though? I mean Samsung themselves supplying a 0.5amp cable with a 2 amp charger would be downright daft. Then again it would just like that company to pull a stunt like that.

I don't suspect the cig lighter to be friend, but it's the only explanation I have for a 2amp charger with official cable clearly not providing 2 amps.

As I said though I've realized we need a second charger anyways so we'll just go the replacement route and hopefully that will fix all issues...cuz after that things get tricky.

My dad only has an S3 Mini (and will be replacing with a similarly weak phone) so him using this old cable won't be a problem even if it's under-performing.

The cable might be damaged, pinched under a chair, try a different cable, different car before buying a new one. Or else you might find it may not solve the issue

No, the cable is undamaged so it's definitely not that. It's only ever been in the car far away from the possible dangers that cables face. It hasn't even been twisted excessively. It could still be damaged I guess, but it was working fine 2 months ago with the S3.

Anyways it's all a moot point anyways until my sister visits on the weekend, only then can we test other cables/cars or properly discuss which new one to get. But a new one wouldn't be a waste since we need a second anyways I now realise.

I use one of these to check a new charger or cable combination - accurately shows the Voltage and Current - cost about $3 from China

hey guys!
I see Takealot has the LG G4 Smartphone 32GB LTE - Black LG-H815P on special today for R7k

Is that the right model and is that a good price?

If you can wait, R6,390 from Orange. But if you don't want to wait, then go for it, good price.

My G4 seems to lose some settings after a restart. The 2 main settings being the lock screen wallpaper and the screen time out setting. Very strange

thanks Bond!

apparently the Takealot one has 2 year warranty, as opposed to one year from Orange - Is that correct and do you think an issue?

Edit: ordered it :-)
Will now have to read this massive thread to see what the essential accessories are......... (if one of you guys don't tell me ;-) )

It's a very good deal if you're looking for a brand new phone with a full local warranty :)

Yes. Go for TA.

Tempered Glass and mobile tripod are the essentials.
