LG G4

what keyboard do you guys use on the G4?

I've never bothered using anything than a phones standard keyboard, but have heard there are various other options

If you want to have a keyboard with good Afrikaans capability, Swiftkey is the way to go. By the way, SwiftKey has just been announced as one of the top apps by Google Play Store, so that says a LOT.

If only English, give Fleksy a try ... really easy and quick to type once you get the hang of it.

SwiftKey is the best keyboard in my opinion. Very good afrikaans word recognition too. I always install it first if I get a new Android phone.

another swift key user here recommending the app.

the learning of the way you type is what makes it work for me. and when you install on a new device it just runs with you, remembering everything.

got my new phone, installed swiftkey, opened a new tab in chrome, and it predicted words.
opened a new incognito tab and BAM all my favorite sites are recommended. HINT HINT

so I installed Swiftkey........ fiddled around a bit........ and it's definitely as good as you guys have indicated - such a pleasure, after struggling with the LG keyboard - I gave it all the freedom it wanted... my emails and whatever..... flawless afrikaans, english, slang, what a pleasure! ..... and for the last time, Thanks!

Did you play with the settings on the LG keyboard? I found that, with some work, it was actually really nice on my G2 and G3 but wasn't great before I tweaked it

No I'd left it pretty standard

So sorted out my battery drain. Was lux auto brightness with outlook and bbm.

Now I noticed another issue though. When outside in the sun the screen brightness gets ramped up so high that the screen display seems to get like a bit milky white. I hope it's not the light sensor that is broken or something.

im glad you sorted it.

I dont use auto brightness.
with my S4 I would change the brightness from inside and outside to help with battery.
with the G4 I have it on % all day. outside with sunglasses on and my blue tempered glass sometimes its a bit of an issue, but that is the screen protector not the phone.

also WHY are you using BBM? like what is the point? keeping that alive is keeping the company going. just let the old dog die already...

When in direct sunlight it gets ramped up so high so you can see stuff. I guess it can be seen milky.

Best take a pic with another phone to show us.

Never noticed my screen looking milky or anything untoward in bright sunlight/full screen brightness, whether on automatic or manual brightness

Mine does the same. When I thake my phone put of my pocket in the sun it does that but mine auto correct after about 3 seconds.

I discovered a rather odd thing running MM. The Zapper app kills my Wi-Fi connection. I installed Zapper yesterday while out at breakfast. Basically after updating to MM, I only installed apps as I needed them rather than doing a massive install of everything all at once.
So, I pay the bill with Zapper and we go home. My phone connects to the Wi-Fi but no internet access/data at all. Rebooted, same thing. Went out to friends for the afternoon, connected to his Wi-Fi, no internet access. Realised the only thing that changed was Zapper install. Uninstalled Zapper, boom, Wi-Fi internet access immediately.

have any of you guys used a Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 charger on your phones?

Is it worth it?

I'm using a Samsung quick charger on my G4. Phone charges really quickly, especially handy when you notice your phone is near flattened and you need to go out in a shortish while. 15mins charge gets you a very useable amount of battery life.
