My Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 gave me 30+days in airplane mode.

My iPad mini is currently on 161hours standby with all connections switched on and it's on 47%.
 
I actually traded my Note 5 yesterday for a G4. The note 5 is the better phone no doubt but if you don't use the extra features then it's quite a waste. The note 5 was slightly quicker because of the ram and I really preferred the hardware keys to the on screen ones. Other than that there's not much difference.

The comparisons on YouTube also doesn't help much. None of them states a clear winner.

I can get a Note 5 for R5500. That's a ridiculous price.

Yeh, i think this is pretty accurate... if you don't have a real use for the S Pen, it's just another top smartphone.

On the speed side, The G4 isn't really much slower, but I think, and it feels to me, that LG made a conscious effort to slow the animations down when browsing the phone. This gives it a much smoother experience, but does feel slower compared to the samsung (I compared it to my S6edge). The edge's animations is fast, but it lacked the smoothness buttery feel of the slower animations of the LG.
 
The S-Pen, AMOLED screen, build quality and unlocked bootloader (I think most of us have the 815P here) would make the Note 5 the clear winner for me.

Some would argue the removal battery, MicroSD card support and "closer to stock, stock ROM" would maybe the G4 the clear winner.

It all depends what you want out of your phone. Phones these days are so close to one another, that very little distinguish them.

Yeah true but for me coming from the Note 3, the things I miss the most are the S-Pen when marking up images and the AMOLED screen. But the things you mentioned are the actual reasons why I chose this phone over the rivals.
