Wifey got her G6 on Friday. Awesome phone (still prefer my 6P though).

Now my car G3 gets an upgrade to her old G4 after the SIM swap happens today. Yay!

honestly not sure if I would use the G4 as a constant GPS. it gets so hot and drains so quickly.

I have a constant power connection to my car GPS phone, so power not an issue.
Used it this am for traffic reports when driving to Hartees, and all seemed fine. Never felt it for heat though.
GPS was certainly a lot more accurate and consistent compared to the G3.

heat is the issue. remember, the core reason for the bootloop on the G4 was heat related.
phone got too hot.
soldering on the mainboard melted, caused the bootloop.

the G6 will (most likely) not have this issue as the CPU heat sync is much larger.

I figured after almost 2 weeks it's a good time to post some screenshots of battery usage.

This is me today.
I charged mostly just after lunch off the power bank, then run until the next day. Today at around 3 I knew that I was going to use my phone a lot so I charged it full.
Left work at 5 turned on Bluetooth headset, opened up dstv now and watched the ipl game while on the train and at the wife's parents house.
So this usage is pretty much Bluetooth on full brightness streaming video.

Last android device I had was a Galaxy S4 and this is a welcome breath of fresh air!

Loving the build quality as it feels premium and -solid-
I'm happy with the battery life and watched quite a few shows on Netflix with not too much drainage.
Gaming a bit and regular usage throughout the day I have in the 40s percentage left in the evening..
The camera(s) are really top notch and imo just as good as my iPhone7 in regular light. No low light images yet
The software and stability I'm happy with (using it about a week now) and have had no slow downs or jitter or crashes
Fingerprint sensor is top notch and extremely fast!

My ONLY gripe thus far is the Vodacom bloatware crap!

India has dual sim version with 64gb and quad dac! When will the special edition version with 64gb and quad dac release worldwide?

Telkom still doesn't have the G6 listed while every other provider has it.

Cool, mine is set up now.

Great having a "modern" phone again, my G2 is really quite frustrating to use these days.

The bundle is pretty cool, 64GB SD card is a nice addition and the bluetooth headphones are also not half bad sounding although I'll probably use my Sennheisers most of the time but they're not bluetooth.

I am really happy to see this thread is nice and slow.
reading the S8 thread there is a lot of rage about extra costs, wrong wireless charging, and worries about red screens.

meanwhile we are sitting here enjoying a phone that does what it promises, and does it really well to boot.

To be fair, the S8 is selling in much higher quantities so there are bound to be more people with issues. LG did keep it simple with this one though which I really appreciate.

Battery life could be better and a bump to Android 7.1 would be nice.

Oh my word, this whole time I thought both the V20 and G6 were on 7.1.

I wonder what's stopping these OEMs from updating to 7.1 unless they are waiting to jump to Android O? I sure hope so at this point TBH, rather they work on perfecting their Android O updates and release them on time, while in the meantime giving us Security Updates.
