Only had my B6 65" for a couple of weeks so still a bit early to comment on support/reliability but the set itself is amazing. WebOS is actually really good, a lot better and faster than I was expecting. I use the Youtube and Netflix apps over the app on my Shield TV now as they're arguable more responsive and support HDR and Atmos (on Netflix) playback.

2 year warranty is too short imo though, should be at least 3 years.

Can't comment on that buy my 55" C7 is amazing in every possible way. nothing to fault what soever

Have you chaps noticed an increase in picture quality lately with a "normal" HD input? I'm actually referring to DSTV which is supposedly only 720p. I have had a couple of updates, and maybe some I didn't know about seeing as it is set to update automatically.

But hells bells - the picture is just getting sharper and sharper with just DSTV feed. Every time I switch on the TV I am just gobsmacked at the picture quality and clarity.

When i was doing research on TV's i was previously going to go for the LG sj850, they say the picture quality is really good, the only thing is that the blacks often turn light due to light bleed, its quite a common trend, not that bad in sunlight, but if you watch in the dark it will definitely be noticeable. Some people can deal with, some can't and unfortunately, the amount of lightbleed is just down to luck of the draw , im sure if the 850 has this, the 630 will have.

After all my research though the brands that i fell to were Sony and LG, they seemed to have the most consistent positive reviews across the board.

Sony's are very pricey though.

Samsung MU range is hit and miss, the 2016 KS7000 is a really really really good TV you could buy if you can find old stock but i highly doubt you will.

Can't buy Sony in South Africa for a few years now so internet conclusions are meaningless.

And Samsung is consistently rated the better quality display but I wouldn't touch one for their reliably issues.

I wonder if Game will beat Takealot's price

Yes they do.. sometimes they moan about price includes shipping but just show them its free shipping over R450 and you sorted.. provided your item is above R450..

recently beat the price of Jameson which takealot had cheaper

I have made up my mind. Going for the LG 55UJ630V.
Is the Makro sale still on? Although it was only R1000 off I think so not a huge saving. That TV does look nice, saw a display one the weekend, they were out of stock in Centurion.

Sales guy told me the Full HD tv has 4K.... was a different brand, can't remember which one.

You should check out Netflix on 2160p :whistling:

Hi, looking to buy this model LG 55UJ630V. What's your experience with it? An also, where did you get it and for how much?
Will be using it mostly for youtube and netflix, and playing some stuff off a harddrive, either plugged in or on the network.
Which remote did it come with? Have you been able to straem or control from a phone?

I have this set.

Black levels are very bad ... Hdr is mediocre at best

Positives. The UI and smart features are snappy and work well. Magic remote also great (yes it comes with the smart remote which international units did not)

So if you intend watching TV in a bright room you good and won't notice the poor contrast ratio. But in a dark room ... Those black levels are grey

Thanks, I am trying to decide between the 55UJ630V and the samsung 50MU7000. They are both at the same price. There are pro's and cons for both, but LG has the advantage of bigger size.
I read about poor black levels which are a definite con, but the viewing angles are better and it has a higher brightness level. The room can get quite sunny in the day so I would perhaps gain more from the LG.
Also I think WebOS pips Tizen (tell me if you think I'm wrong) and the Magic remote is a plus.
Lastly I like that Samsung has all the input on the side while LG has some that are rear facing. Not a big deal, just a bit annoying.

Still a bit torn, but leaning towards the LG.
(the stand on the LG may be a big too big for my unit as well, could be a deal breaker)

You guys should really be looking at the SJ series of LG, like the sj800v or sj850...

The LG will have punchy colours due to the IPS panel but yes the black levels are not at level of the Samsung's VA panel.

To be honest neither TV does true HDR.

Personally I don't like VA panels, colours are a little washed out.

I had a look at it in store, and I really like WebOS, combined with that Magic Remote it really adds something of value to the experience. So guess i need to go find a bigger unit now :p

Yeah in-store those black levels looks great and like drifter mentioned better play 4k on this set and it's great pq

But feature set nothing comes close. The os is snappy ...the only qualm on my end is thoae blacks. calibrating the tv will reduce this a bit
