Liberty Stash App

For Xiaomi, you need to make Stash a protected app so that your phone can send us a 'heartbeat'. It's quite a mission!

Open the SECURITY app,
tap PERMISSIONS,
tap AUTOSTART,
navigate to STASH and switch the toggle ON.

Then open the SECURITY app,
tap BATTERY,
tap APP BATTERY SAVER,
navigate to STASH and tap on NO RESTRICTIONS,
under BACKGROUND LOCATION tap on ALLOW.

Using these settings, how regular does the App activate the GPS? (For battery usage concern ofcoarse)

Just a consideration: You have a life-time limit of R500 000 to save/invest tax free. Any withdrawals on the invested capital amount cannot be replaced: ie you save R5000 (limit is now 495 000) and later withdraw R2000 from the account, that original R5000 capital contribution has already been deducted from your lifetime limit and cannot be replaced. That is, you are limited by how much you put in, but a can take any amount out.

Ideally, you should allow your principal to grow sufficiently enough to ensure that when you do withdrawal it is on the growth/interest and not on the principle invested/saved - this is a long-term view that ensures that your contributions are maximized before you withdraw. Moreover, the more cash in the account, the greater the effect of compounding long term - "money makes money"

The concept of having easy access to these via Stash is to the detriment of your potential growth on your investment. Sure, it's "convenient", but it's important that people recognize this tax free opportunity and how compound interest can be your friend over the long term - it's not supposed to work like a back-up savings account "on the go". Then again, it's your choice.

Once a day to determine the weather in your area. We've tried to keep it really low on the battery usage. Just had a look at my Battery Usage since last charge and 3% of my usage was because of Stash (and I opened the app a few times today).

Indeed - Stash is a tax-free savings account. At the end of the day, your money should be yours to do what you want with it. It's nonsensical to believe that you have to print, fill in, sign, scan and email a 5-page withdrawal form because your investment provider 'cares' about your investment.

Would be awesome if other savings types later on was supported as well and not just TFSA.

I like this stash app idea. Much better than the useless 'bank your change' with FNB which is only on cheque card but then ebucks for all transactions to the credit card.

Not bad so far, however their support is absolutely pathetic. Sent them an email on the 27 September and i am still awaiting a reply.

How come Capitec has STILL not been added to the app? Are you not interested in adding them or are they not cooperating?

Que?

What bank card can I connect to Stash?
Any debit, credit or cheque card from FNB, Standard Bank, Absa, Nedbank, Investec, RMB, Capitec and DiscoveryCard (VISA and MasterCard).
You updated your app?

As some have mentioned earlier, their support sucks.
I’ve email “help” numerous times.
I’ve has 4 x R1 deducted from my credit card, but it still hasn’t appeared in my Stash account.

30 hours, at most. By 2pm each day, your spare change from the past 24 hours get tallied up and the money is taken from your bank account. It’s invested at 8pm every day that the stock market is open. If your round up is R0.01, it’ll still get stashed. Every cent matters.
Just wait it out. Can take 30h...
