LIFEPO4 Battery discussion thread

Would need 2 batteries in parallel and run an aircon lol.
Once tested an aircon on it, besides the dodgy 25mm2 getting exceptionally hot, the inverter handled it like a champ, it was during the day though and solar was good.

Yes it has 200Ah of mixed type lithium batteries in parallel.

@wingnut771 Was messing around on the app to see the voltages. 56.5 is the highest I have seen. Battery used to OVP at 55.6 ish give or take.

I dont know if its still giving the OVP alarms but I am sure in another month or it will be reaching 56.8V and going to float. Cant remember what the float is.

So your theory of the pack fixes itself if given time is definitely true. The battery gets full around 11/12. I see it goes to 90% around 3:30 and then charges again. Each of those charges is keeping the pack in a balance state.
 
For those who might consider the combo, do note, the Felicity battery is not compatible as far as comms are concerned, the workaround is configuring it as AGM, and then setting the Lithium charging parameters.

Slightly annoyed with the Chinese though and also with myself. Spent the whole weekend trying to get the battery to charge, with no luck on AGM or Lithium settings, automatically assumed it was compatibility issues, never bothered to go through all the settings as I assumed there wouldn't be anything in the default settings that would prevent the battery from charging on lead acid settings, my mind was just fixated on the Lithium comms thing.

Turns out someone in China thought it was a bright idea to set the AC charging default settings to off, I can't for the life of me fathom why, since AC should be default on everything.

But all is well now, waiting for the battery to charge fully so that I can test it on the loads.
 
Luxpower inverter is also a thing of beauty, 3.6kW, 4000W mppt, built in wifi, generator port, very user-friendly.

Nice inverter. Reminds me a lot of my MUST inverter also. Funny it’s the same specs also. 3.6 and 4000W PV.

Did run for a year with 4600W PV before I made it charge off the second inverter I got so it currently has no panels. If the need requires I will spec panels to hit 5kW on the little guy lol. Those 710W panels can do it as the input is rated 18A. Their voltage is relatively low around 42
 
Did you try can to can port with battery setting 2 for pylon?

It does seem they don't use the same can H and can L Pins. Does you manual give the pin layout?
Yes, I did, tried option 2 for Pylon as well as option 6, no luck, I used the cable that came with the battery haven't had time to give another attempt, I will check if the pin layout checks out.
 
Talking of LiFePo4 batteries, had a funny conversation with my BIL.

Long story short we were talking about discharge levels and he takes his deye 16kw down to 4% in winter with the reason that "it's 6000 cycles so i don't mind if it kills that a little bit". Didn't say anything but I was very surprised the battery didn't shut itself down already... and of course that he is happy killing it.

Long story short we were talking about discharge levels and he takes his deye 16kw down to 4% in winter with the reason that "it's 6000 cycles so i don't mind if it kills that a little bit". Didn't say anything but I was very surprised the battery didn't shut itself down already... and of course that he is happy killing it.
Might as well run it down to almost zero, you will loose more of its health just by calendar aging.

Side not some of them have this annoying force charge command that get send to the inverter when you go down under 20 %><

You lucky I wasn’t in the conversation as I would have said even 0% isn't “killing it”. Evidence shows an uncycled cell sitting on a shelf for 3 years degrades about the same as a cell that is cycled 0-100% daily. Therefore, you may as well get the most out of the battery not so, instead of trying to baby it.

Indeed. Couldn’t get sunsynk 16kW battery below 9% before forced recharge. Maybe deye goes to 0%?

makes sense but your cycles drop drastically. Could be the difference between replacement every 10 years or every 20 years. I was more surprised the battery doesn't lock up as I've been told passed a certain point they do and you have to take them in to get started again.

Whether that's sales snake oil or not I don't know, but would rather not want to find out.

Snake oil, never heard that before, anyway they will last 20 years regardless of cycles, and then still have 80% capacity left. Bms would probably fail beforw cells lose capacity.
